The attached version is JPEG- I couldn't attach as the original .bmp format? Still I think the track layout is going to be challenging with all those curved formation on the approach to the station from the tunnel I was wondering if it's best to lay the plain tracks in first and then insert the necessary crossovers and turnouts, or if I should "build from the middle" as it were?, Regards Jim Attachment: attach_338_540_W_LL_600dpi_track_o nly.jpg 262 posted: 15 Sep 2008 17:38 from: JimH Hello All, I'm beginning to get the hang of things now- lots of trial and error and reading the excellent tutorials. ... topic: 3128 new MS marker posted: 18 Nov 2017 22:44 from: Martin Wynne I have been asked for an easier way to identify main-side (MS) and turnout-side (TS) of plain track templates when making double-track. Traditionally if you can't work it out just by looking, you switch the timber numbers on (which are always on the MS). I have also heard of folks inserting a turnout and then removing it again just to find out which side is which. I thought it would help to have a mark permanently visible (as if there aren't enough marks already), so I have added a "hook" mark on the MS side of the CTRL-1 rail-joint marker at the far end of a plain track template. I hope this will be reasonably easy to see when zoomed out, and not get confused with the goal-post marks for the end of a transition zone: 2_181742_020000000.png In the next program update. Anything other than scale (i.e. ScaleSeven) representations of the chairs would require designing them from scratch rather than "just" copying the prototype. It's currently 4000mm long for the area shown (13ft x 9ft ish) in EM. End curves are around 4ft radius. I set 8ft way for the running lines (rather more than is necessary, but that's what matches the drawing), and 13ft way for the carriage sidings. I don't know what's intended for the other side, I inserted a simple link. There isn't room for a fiddle yard. Perhaps these tracks drop down to a folded-8 design with storage under the station area? The gradients will be a bit severe in only 13ft x 9ft. For working over a scan I find it easier on the eyes to use a negative image with reduced contrast, and the "bright night" colour scheme. There is an old video showing how to insert a set of catch points here: http://templot.com/old_videos/catch_points.exe As in the video a short loose-heel switch is the most likely size, but they can vary a lot on the prototype. Normally the crossing angle isn't relevant because a set of catch points is only a switch, although a full turnout trap leading to a buffer stop or sand drag is possible. To avoid the numbers changing, click wipe to the control instead of delete to the control before making changes to a template. The edited template will gain a new number when stored again, but all the other template numbers will remain unchanged. Hi Richard, I've been giving some thought to this while cutting the grass. At present the template number simply represents its position in the storage box list, so the number changes as templates are inserted, deleted, etc., or the list is re-ordered on the storage box. I can see the advantage of giving each template additionally a fixed ID number which wouldn't change, and which could be printed as part of the timber reference instead of the list number. In principle this is not different from the template name, but it would be much shorter and created automatically without user effort. I started with a 12" sleeper in the middle of the diamond flanked by (from memory) 4 14" sleepers on either side. After that when inserting separate sleepers for the diverging routes I chose 10" as the most likely size. This was only altered for the sleeper under the switch blade ends where again I used 14".
