... Phil, For a low-resolution version you can do a screen capture from any PDF reader program, and save as an image file for use in a picture shape. If you want a better resolution image for zooming you need some form of PDF editor/extractor program. I assume you don't have such a program or you wouldn't be asking. Very few of these are free. However, assuming the map is contained in the PDF file as an image (likely), there is one free PDF reader program which includes extraction tools. It's also an excellent reader program in its own right as an alternative to Adobe or Foxit readers. Free download from: http://www.nitroreader.com (Make sure you choose the 32-bit or 64-bit version as required.) 1. open your PDF file in Nitro Reader. 2. click on the map image to select it. 3. right-click and select either Copy Image or Extract Image... If you copy, you can paste it into your usual graphics editor ...

I will play with the print option and scan the result into something saveable as a raster file. My printer/cutter software has an excellent 'trace' capability. And I will go on from there. The control template will remain hidden only briefly, and will then reappear over the background template. You can of course hide it again if you wish (HOME key). For more experienced users there is a new option not to have the control template hidden. It's on the options menu on the storage box. If Templot detects an error in Windows such that it can't be sure that the storage box automatic back-up has worked, it won't let you quit without saving another file, just to make sure. Just click the Save button and Templot will quit afterwards. You can delete the file later if not wanted. Note that Templot2 now includes the current control template in the box file, so this function kicks in even if the storage box is empty. You may be able to exit the loop by storing the control template, after which (if successful) Templot should quit normally. Because this function requires an error in Windows, it is difficult to test, and may need further refinement. If it happens again, please try to recall exactly what happened and report it. ... . If you do that I would urge you please NOT to post the PDF file here or share it with anyone via your web site or anywhere else. Otherwise anyone printing it on a different printer will get an inaccurate result and will naturally believe that Templot produces inaccurate output. That is the reason the native PDF output in Templot does not have a calibration function -- the file cannot be linked to a specific printer, and if the file is shared with others many different printers will be used. The primary reason for including the native PDF output in Templot is as an alternative to the DXF output for printing on wide-format continuous roll paper. For that the traditional printer paper sizes do not apply, and it is better to set the document dimensions directly. As with DXF printing, any final correction needed can then be done in the PDF reader/printing software. *If you use the Nitro PDF Reader (free from http://nitroreader.com ), it includes an excellent free virtual printer PDF generator. regards, Martin. ...

... Nicholls Hi Martin, I have a query about DXF ouput. Yesterday I wanted to output a DXF image of a diamond crossing, so selected the diamond and made the two halves a grouped item. I then did the output, making sure I had selected group templates only. When I viewed the resulting output file, I found I had also another switch template, which had been out of view on the workpad at the time of the output, as well as the required diamond. Now the switch template had not been included in the group with the diamond, so why did it get included in the output file? Today I tried the same experiment, with the same items and got the same result, an unwanted template that had not been grouped. See images below: The first image shows the Templot workpad at time of outputting file. The second image shows the resulting DXF file when viewd with a suitable program. Can you please explain what may be going wrong? All the best, Brian Nicholls. Templot Screenshot 1853_250936_210000000.gif DXF Viewer Screenshot ...
