Of course, over successive OS versions they have completely re-arranged all the directory structures/ folder names etc, but programmes written to the 15 year old guidelines continue to work fine. So here is the answer to your question Martin:- the "problem it causes" is that Templot is not "system independent" thus, if they *ban* writing (or installations) to the root directory in WIN 8/9 /10 Templot will not work. You then have a re-write forced on you OR we as users cannot upgrade our machines. Having said all that, and recognising the long development path (no pun!) of Templot, I really sympathise and fully agree that there are more important things in which to to invest your precious programming time! I have tried all the variations of the turnout geometry, but have concluded that there must be some simple parameter that I have missed — possibly in the custom template dialogues, and this screws up the correct creation of the regular crossing — and maybe other configurations of turnout and crossing templates yet to be encountered. Can anyone help point out what I am missing? I will see what it is like when finished (the real thing isn't exactly smooth). From the diagrams it does seem that the back of the point rail is just a standard flangeway gap from the wing rail. All has gone very well using TDV except for a three way tandem point- the very last piece of the jigsaw. The problem is my lack of knowledge and terminology. When I try to follow the excellent Templot video I can sort of understand it until my lack of knowledge takes over. Specifically, I do not know if what I am trying to do is allowed bearing in mind the background shape of the prototype requires two staggered B8 LH switches. These appear to be the best fit. Would this be allowed? The other area where I am failing is the third crossing and blades which from the video seem to be a user choice and I have not got a clue ...

So far I have made one of the templates a turnout and split off the approach road, but I am not clear on how to make this a dummy template as described. Then you are required to make a branch line from the other template. However, I think I would have to make this a turnout template as well. Could anybody clarify this for me. This gives much better running with modern Slater's-pattern wheels. There has been much discussion about this on other forums such as RMweb. ... because using a previous inkjet printer, an Epson 820 Photo Printer, I was able to align these bang on and this has always amazed me. My current new printer is a Epson Stylus Photo PX710W. I have to add, this is after a fresh install of the software running 0.91c. Would appreciate any thoughts people may have on this, and whether I have Templot set correctly.
