Any pre-existing settings for the control template are lost. make the control means that Templot first does store& background for the current control template settings, and then does delete to the control on the selected background template. This is just a convenient shortcut for the user, instead of performing these two operations separately. There are a lot of functions called make... which work similarly by performing a store& background before modifying the current control template settings. Last Saturday for the first time I attempted a live-screen broadcast of Templot being used, and you can see me using these functions to assemble a track plan in this clip: http://flashbackconnect.com/Movie.aspx?id=30h3au1S5O6j0LbfPFi7sw2 As a presentation it leaves a lot to be desired, but I think it may make the ...

This means that in the case of partial templates not having both stock rails present, for example the components of a tandem turnout, it is not possible for them to appear in diagram mode. There are several ways of working round this restriction: 1. temporarily overlay plain track templates over the partial templates. These can be kept in a separate .box file, and added to the track plan whenever it is desired to create diagram-mode output. or, 2. change to detail mode instead. The appearance can be changed using the various options in the output menu. 3. in detail mode, use the thick centre-lines only option, which is broadly similar to the effect of diagram mode: 2_011306_330000000.png cheers, Martin. posted: 2 Apr 2019 09:42 from: rynd2it Thanks Martin, that works but I ran into some issues with line thickness, once I changed the track colour the line went really thin and nothing in the options seems to fix it- see below. Some companies made this curve quite gentle and obvious as shown -- the NER for example. For MECBOX with around 500 settings for every template, I used the old Windows INI format, which is natively supported in both Delphi and Lazarus. It's easy to use, tried and tested, but slow. That doesn't really matter for one-time transfer use. Also it doesn't easily support embedded image files, which we need for the background shapes. So for BGS3 I have used XML instead. Like INI it is text-based and readable, and editable in a text editor, although I wouldn't recommend doing that. Fortunately we already have Nils's open-source XML engine used for the sketchboard SK9 files: http://sourceforge.net/projects/simdesign/files/trunk/nativexml/ So I was able to use that more or less as-is, and much to my relief I found that it compiled in Lazarus with only a few minor tweaks. All of which is completely out of date and irrelevant, because you should no longer be using the F5 mouse action to adjust the middle V-crossings of tandem turnouts. It is now much easier to use the F9 mouse action instead, which doesn't affect the switch. Furthermore, you may not have a switch to lock. For the middle V-crossing in a tandem turnout it is now usually much more convenient to use a partial irregular half-diamond or a gaunt turnout template, neither of which have a switch. The one Caledonian turnout drawing I have has a 12ft straight switch with the toe to heel length of 12 feet and it is all straight. I've already customised the 12ft straight switch in Templot to use the Caledonian sleepering layout but I used the rail data as supplied. I'll re-design the rails and use a 1:30 angle (instead of 1:32) which gives 3.81mm heel offset which, less the rail width of 2.2mm, gives a gap of 1.61mm which equates to a natz over 2" full size. I'm now going to have to go and redo sixteen turnouts with their interlaced sleepering. Hopefully the revised switch won't alter the body of the turnouts too much requiring me to do a pile of timber shoving again. Hi Tarik, If you model a real location such as Ipswich, the size of baseboard needed is determined by the size of Ipswich, and the model scale you are using. If you want to build it on a smaller baseboard you would need to use a smaller scale, such as using N gauge instead of 00. If you want to stay with 00 on a smaller baseboard you need to find somewhere smaller than Ipswich as a basis for your layout. Or invent a fictional layout which fits your available space. Many modellers use a real place such as Ipswich only as a source of ideas for their layout, but they don't try to copy it exactly because most places would require far too much space.
