However, as I've yet to lay track and everything else is ramrod-straight B6's, I thought this might be an interesting opportunity to re-work them if they fit into the rest of the geometry. Option 1 is to leave them as-is. Option 2 is to replace them with B8 turnouts which works, but neccesitates an S-curve on the carriage road to bring it out to the correct separation (to be honest, this may be required anyway- I gather it would require a 10' way as opposed to the 6' way?) Option 3 is to adjust the geometry with a more 'custom' layout. Option 3 is something that Martin W. suggested using contraflexed (! ?) turnouts to maintain the geometry and spacing, but it's way over my head. I would be grateful for any advice or help- I have attached the plan with Option 2 in-situ, but as long as the top/rearmost track centre of formation A remains at roughly 15 to 16" and formation ...

... topic: 1450 Timbers cannot be restored on half (quarter) diamonds posted: 10 Apr 2011 14:43 from: Brian Nicholls Hi All, I'm having a problem getting timbers back (restored) onto diamond crossing halves (or to be more precise quarters). I have been doing a re-write of Richard_t's irregular diamond crossing help guide, in the hope of finally producing a video of this. So have had to make sure of every little detail is correct and have put down the description of every step required. From the start, all templates were (are) done with timbers omitted. In very simplistic terms, the crossing starts with two curves of different radii, which cross each other at some point. Then for each half of the crossing, two turnouts are setup and adjusted to give correct alignment of what becomes the main road and the diagonal road. One of these turnouts is copied to provide the crossing vee on that side. The two full turnouts are then copied and converted in turn to half diamonds, but ...

The A.R.E.A. heel does away with the outer fishplate altogether and shares all bolt holes with the inner fishplate. I have searched the forum without much success. I have an HP 1280 deskjet that allows the user to define custom paper sizes. I have cut some A1 paper lengthwise to produce what amounts to a double length A3 sheet. This is very useful for printing out longer sections of track. The paper size is defined as 300 x 840mm. Most of the time this works fine, the problem I have found seems to occur when a large area of the page to be printed contains no template. If the page starts with a template it will print this and then print a bit more of the page before producing an error message. If however the page starts printing from the blank edge then it will print about 300mm of the page and then produce an error message. See screen shot below. This is a problem I ...
