You didn't say but I would imagine for narrow-gauge on 7.1/4" you are probably modelling at around 1:4 scale, i.e. 3"/ft? Dick had said that this was avoided if possible. Hi Andy, True, but the way the prototype would avoid that would be to move the slip forward and move the tandem further round the curve. The alternative is to specify over-long switch fronts on the turnout to avoid the short length of plain track. That would be more likely than a complete custom irregular slip design. p.s. By the way, in the double junction the turnouts would ideally be changed to curviform V-crossings, then snake them forward a fraction to align with the diamond. ... more usual, you can get much better running and appearance by removing the gauge-widening except where you actually need it. So for example 31.5mm 0-MF with 1.5mm flangeways is gaining acceptance as the best option for 0 gauge using all existing wheels, widened to 32mm only on sharp curves. Likewise 16.2mm 00-SF is becoming popular, widened to 16.5mm only on sharp curves. Unfortunately, if the check rail chairs you wish to use have 1.75mm flangeways, your options are a bit restricted. I suggest using a custom track gauge of 31.75mm, thus creating the same 30.0mm check gauge as for 0-MF, and applying a fixed 0.25mm gauge-widening throughout. You can then use 1.5mm flangeways at the V-crossing and gain the same improved running with full support through crossings as for 0-MF. You can't do that at 32mm gauge with 30.25mm check gauge because the check span might be a bit too wide for some wheels. regards, Martin. posted: 13 Jan 2012 14:52 from: LSWRArt Hi Martin That ...

There is a video showing how to do this at: http://www.templot.com/martweb/videos/subs_rad.exe If you are using TDV, use F9 rather than F5 to adjust the V-crossing angle. For narrow-gauge, light railways and industrial you could change to a gaunt turnout and set the gaunt offset to zero.
