... currently Windows only, and I figured I might as well start by trying to make it run on Linux (of course I skipped the easy way out of trying Wine- or even starting up the Windows installation I have at home). While we're on the disclaimers, I've never even built a layout, beyond a Hornby loop laid out on the floor as a child. In other words: when it comes to this whole modelling business I'm a bit of a novice. So, back to the topic- what needs adjusting for Linux (this is not a complaints list- it's merely a list of things that I'll need to work on):- There are quite a few calls to ShellExecute for opening folders and websites, I've tackled this by consolidating into open_url and open_folder methods which can then contain the code to support all platforms. There are a few more calls for images that for now I've commented out.- Some API's from the 'Windows' unit aren't available, but most of those can by replace by LCLType/LCLIntf on Linux ...

It's a problem (otherwise I would have done it long since), because of the alarming effect when adjusting large radii with the F6 mouse action. Which would give beginners the final reason to chuck Templot out of the window. However, you can put the notch on the radial centre(s) of the control template, geometry> notch> notch on radial centre menu item. Which means that if you position the turntable ring first, you can then align the tracks onto it. Or to move the turntable ring over existing track, use the geometry> shift/rotate> shift radial centre to notch menu item. ...

Initially I had the slip road on the wrong side but I eventually worked out that I needed to start the diamond with the two through road control and background templates swapped over- that sorted it. Yes the standard Windows TButton control is limited to black caption text on a background determined by the user's Windows theme. This is the usual cause of problems using transition curves. Here for example at first sight it seems reasonable to want a transition link between these two curves: 2_100824_210000000.png But when the curves are extended, it becomes clear that they intersect (black lines): 2_100825_400000000.png Which means a transition curve between them is mathematically impossible. The solution is to adjust the radius of one or both of the curves, or move the templates, until the curves do not intersect. For example as the white line, when the radius was reduced from 1400mm to 1318mm. To see if they intersect, you can simply extend the length of the template (F4) because it is very likely a dummy template which is going to be discarded and replaced with the transition curve template.
