If I Shove Timbers, and use the dimensions (in inches) shown in the dialog box, when I come to measure the spacing on the workpad, I find the measurements do not agree with the dialog box.( This was actually found when I loaded the particular turnout DXF file into a cad program and found the error, then went back to Templot to verify). I have put 3 images below which, together, show the anomaly, and also attached the appropriate box file. Circled in Magenta on each image is the dimensions at each stage which should highlight the dimensional error The problem seems to be only around the Vee rail joint, as all other timber spacings are correct. ... . Only straight rails should be measured. On curved track in Templot the rail joints are measured along the track centre-line. The inner rail will be shorter than the set length and the outer rail will be longer. I know this is prototypically wrong -- the outer rail should measure the set length, and special "short rails" should be used at intervals on the inner side to keep the joint stagger within limits. Modellers who wish to go to this level of detail can create it in Templot by using custom partial templates. I didn't do this by default in Templot because model curves are typically much sharper than the prototype, with the consequence that the prototype "short rail" lengths would not be short enough and the joint stagger would have been excessive. The printer calibration function in Templot is available only for printed output. It is not available when creating the native PDF file output because there is no way of knowing which printer it might get printed on. There are two ways round this: 1. Use a free virtual ...

The problem is that for any standard switch, for 36" subs rad the substitution tangency point is falling within the switch front. That's easy to deal with by blanking* for a one-off, but it's not a very satisfactory solution for a standard building-block template where you want the template datum at the rail joint in the usual way. So I created a custom switch with a shorter front to match the substitution curve. Crossing angle turned out to be 1:5.22 RAM curviform. The actual turnout radius is 910mm. Hi Peter, Probably because you are using a custom switch. Such a switch will always be locked in F5 because Templot has no way of knowing what other switch to use instead. However, it is much better to ignore all that out-of-date stuff and use a gaunt turnout or irregular diamond in Templot2 for the middle crossing. If you want a turnout on an existing transition curve template you can simply insert a turnout in the template. Then roam it along to wherever you want it, not necessarily within the transition zone. You can then if you wish split off any approach or exit track as separate templates. Or if it is special custom turnout you can use the align functions instead to align it over the transition template. Or if the turnout position came first, you can change it to a transition curve template, extend the length of it, and then adjust the position of the transition zone markers beyond the turnout or change radii as required. It's all much easier than what you seem to be doing. A screenshot would be a big help. regards, Martin. posted: 23 Mar 2014 02:06 from: pointo1d Hiya Martin, Sorry for ...
