I'm having difficulty getting the two switch exit roads to align- instead I'm getting doubling of the rails. A template is attached. Grateful for any advice please as toy where I'm going wrong. Many thanks. Alan Attachment: attach_2932_3533_Outside_Slip_AK.b ox 142 posted: 25 Oct 2019 13:13 from: Tony W Hi Alan. The short answer is that you have two turnouts curved to very different radii. Without knowing how critical the alignment of the approach tracks are, it is difficult to say what is the best way to proceed. However the usual approach with outside slips is to align the two turnouts albeit mirror image to each other first and then add the diamond afterwards. As this is going to be quite a large layout, the depot will be built first, and the aim is to make it removable so that it can be displayed outside for photography and the like. Hence i've used Martin's file as the base template and added the depot layout. Ideally I would have liked a 12-20inch straight between the first point on the layout and the first point on the depot, to allow space for an exit signal and the like, but space is at a premium so that is one of the concessions. When the depot is on its own I want to be able to portray a busy depot, so standing area has a higher priority. All looks ...

It was endemic to the Mascarene island of Mauritius, east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. which isn't close to the answer I was looking for, but might be effectively correct if I can't do it. The reason I am asking is I have laid out a minimum radius curve, added a turnout to the outside of the curve, and made its V-crossing a parallel track type so the diverging route also curves back around. It sort of makes sense that to get back to parallel the outer track would have to at some point go below the radius of the main track, but I'd like to have the bad section highlighted while I mess around trying to minimize it. posted: 21 Sep 2020 12:58 from: Martin Wynne Hi Jerry, Welcome to Templot Club. I was out on Friday, and this first shot shows a fishplate with the bonding wires on the outside of the rail. I've tried to work out some of the lengths between the holes. On the left the holes are vertically aligned and around 25" from the end of the rail, whereas the holes on the right are horizontally aligned, with one being 22.5" and the other 24.5" from the end of the rail. I shouldn't have been quite so eager to get my Station throat designed with its array of double slips. Perhaps I'll be able to revisit it soon and get a better arrangement. I assume that the different constraints imposed by a 1:5 crossing requiring an outside slip will still mean I have to tackle that manually.
