The solution to that is either to widen them individually, or in 091b and later you can to split off the approach and exit tracks as separate templates, and then align a copy of the library template over them -- peg/ align tools> align the control template over background template> facing-facing menu item, choose the delete option for the existing background template, then store& background for the new one. Would it be possible, to create a "Project" file at close (or during a session)? This would create and save its own .box, .bgs, etc and (say) a .tps (templot project settings) file. This latter could include all the current variables:- colours, pad (including zoom and position), generator and print etc settings. At start-up- or by loading a "project", the settings file would be loaded, the internal variables copied over, the .box, .bgs, etc loaded, the screen re-drawn using the newly-loaded settings, and hey presto- there you have it- a screen looking exactly like what you saw when you last closed it down. I agree that cosmetically it would be nice for Templot to offer the facility to show such flares as having a smooth constant curve, though I suspect we enthusiasts of Scottish track are too uncommon to warrant this! I also agree about how difficult it can be to get such smooth curvature into flare in a controlled way (I'm working in 4mm: 1')- and this even though I've knocked myself up a bending tool. Problems I have had with interlaced timber shoving include getting the shoved sleepers properly centralised and properly at right angles to the line of rail. To mitigate this, I have curved template so that the diverging road lies as nearly straight as I am able to get it, as this assists me considerably in overcoming both these difficulties. Once the shoving is done, I re-straighten the template before saving it as a library item. That way, for the limited range of crossing angle/switch combinations with which I am working, it is simplicity to add a new ...

Rob, As a matter of interest, in the S Scale Society we produce cast brass chairs by sending our plastic sprues to David White at Slaters and he casts using the plastic sprues in a total loss operation- i.e. lost plastic casting. The results are excellent but certainly not inexpensive since the metal casting charge per brass sprue is a lot more than the moulding cost of the plastic sprue. We charge £2.60 per brass sprue and that includes the 0.30p cost of the plastic sprue which was destroyed in the making. Those prices were from our last order a year or two ago and may well have increased. I'll know soon since I've just sent another order off. Before we had our plastic chairs, we had whitemetal chairs which worked very well. But latterly we found it impossible to find a caster who would produce the chairs in thousands- Bob Wills had done the casting originally- so that's when we got Len Newman to do our plastic ones.
