Hi Dave It is not a good idea to grind soft metals on normal grinding wheels which are intended for steel. The softer metals can melt and build up in the wheel clogging it. On another page, showing only a single plain track, which was the last of the group to be printed, one rail was printed but not the other. This was with an HP colour laser printer. I suppose it's not too big a deal in practice- the timbers and check/ wing rails can always be marked in manually, absolute accuracy isn't needed because the construction gauges will provide that. ... -point gauges are used to create gauge-widening. If you use Mr. Pythogoras you get a much longer gauge than most folks use. Generally they settle on some gauge-widening being better than none, using a shorter gauge. Here's the drawing for the 00-SF 3-point gauge: 00_sf_3point_gauge.png The length there is 30mm, so for 0-SF I suggest 50 to 55mm. So to convert feet to mm you need to enter fi or if as the prefix -- fi3 converts 3ft to 914.4mm Always check the units being requested (shown to the right of the entry box) so that you can use the appropriate combination of input conversion letters.
