What a fool! Is there any way I can just change it from one to another? Do I need to start again for it? Or does it really matter?! Hi James, Will you be building it with FB rail? You can easily change it all to print out as FB rail showing the rail foot lines on the templates, and with machined check rail flares. But of course the switches will still be to steam-age REA bullhead semi-curved geometry. Whether that matters only you can decide. Only a tiny minority of modellers would be able to notice the difference once it's built with FB rail. There are some proper FB switches pre-set available in Templot but they are all pre-1970 inclined FB designs. Even just changing to those will mean quite a ...

That S-curve transition which I hadn't paid much attention to because I'd usually have built it straight as per the C&L kit template does make a big visual impact on the layout especially with it being right in the centre of the track plan. On some systems, if you zoom in so far that a single pixel fills the screen, you don't even get a blue screen -- just an instant hardware restart! Which is a bit alarming. I've tried to put in some limits, but it's difficult without restricting desired functionality. Note that the video says you must use BMP files for picture shapes. But the upper track is a shorter length, so there is no reason for both rails to be the same length. Here I used a longer outer rail**, moving the joint to B, where it is better supported. And allowing more freedom in positioning the sleepers at A. Moving the joint in Templot involves some faffing about with partial templates. I suspect most users would simply mark up the printed template. Templot is an aid to building the track, it's not trying to produce a perfect drawing of the finished track. However I will look at adding some new functions to change the positions of rail joints. edit Nov-2020: new functions will be in the next program update. first picture is how Templot arranges the sleepers I try to discourage this line of thinking. There are tools on the OS web site to perform such conversions, but in practice trial and error is probably just as good for the old maps. I found that this one needed a twist of -1.7 degrees. In most cases Templot users will be using one or the other, not both, so this angular difference is of no significance. The finished track plan is likely to need shifting and rotating anyway for convenient printing and to match the railway room. p.s. The transparent option is useful for aligning different screenshots and maps, but it prevents deep zooming when aligning tracks over them, and makes zooming and panning significantly slower. So having got it in the right place, it is better to switch off the transparency for actual use. You might find it useful for outdoor activities, tracing railway routes, etc. The OS maps are used as a back-drop image in monochrome, over which various land use markings are added as layers.
