Instead, you can either shove the individual timbers in the joint area (real> shove timbers menu item), or split off the approach track as a separate template (tools> make split> make separate approach track menu item) and then use the roll rails (CTRL-F4) function on it. To be prototypical it is better to leave the A1 position unchanged and make all required adjustments on the J timbers, either by means of the spacing settings, or by shoving them. regards, Martin. posted: 27 Mar 2009 15:37 from: jeckardt Thank you, Martin, the last part of that reply was exactly what I was looking for: deal with the "problem" in the switch, not the extra lead-in. ... special crossing chairs can be fitted on the vee rails in their usual positions and spacing, even though the whole V-crossing is on a curve. In the case of a curviform V-crossing, the rails between A and B instead continue the radius and in the same direction as the turnout road (the upper centre-line above). This means that the vee rails are separating more quickly than is usual for the angle of the V-crossing, and the positions of the special crossing chairs have to be adjusted on site accordingly. If you use a regular or generic V-crossing on a turnout with contraflexure, and then connect a branch track or siding along a line similar to the upper centre-line, you will have a clumsy-looking alignment with a short section through the crossing curving the wrong way. So quite often after setting contraflexure on a turnout (negative curving radius), the next step is to change it to a curviform type of V-crossing.( template> V-crossing options.. ...

Our radii tend to be nowhere near prototype sizes, so I suggest you use the 25-sleepers per length setting for most places, and 24-sleepers only for dead straight track. Templot will automatically create the closed up sleepers at the joints, and you can use the CTRL+ F4 roll rails mouse action to get the joints exactly where you want them. Or use the roll rails to match functions to adjust the joint positions on the current/control template to flow the rail lengths correctly across the template boundary to a background template. (A few mm difference in the two final transition zone lengths wouldn't notice.) 4. Put the notch on the radial centre for this 3005mm curve. 5. Create your 3000mm radius as a fixed-curve template and shift its radial centre onto the notch. This curve will now clear both other tracks by 5mm. 6. Make transitions to it from the original straight tracks, and adjust the template boundaries to fill the space in the usual way. Notice that the middle boundary doesn't have to be central between the transition zones, because the radius is the same (3000mm) on both sides. Here's the raw video (it's in Flash format).
