It was because I couldn't find the same in Lazarus that I omitted the file viewer from the first release of OT. There is no point in having a list of files there, because that is what is intended to appear in the main pane E. Also it is listing 11 files there but indicating 7 files in the top heading. Presumably because some of them are MECBOX files. Viewing MECBOX files (and importing them) needs to be a separate option on the viewer. F. When I clicked the show files button to generate the list, it crashed T3. Also the HTML on the main pane used to be centred. Have you changed it for some reason? I didn't expect that there would be any need to modify the HTML. But I made no attempt to follow Windows conventions because at the time I had no idea what they were (and wasn't very impressed when I found out). I was simply faced with a brand new unknown computer and a program which I wanted to make work on it. Nothing much has changed in the subsequent years and isn't now likely to. There are others with more Windows software experience who have written similar programs, and clearly if full Windows compliance is important those could be used instead. For example Jeff Geary has created Trax3, and there is S21 ModelGleis from Bernd Steimann and Christian Sender. However, I don't believe Templot is difficult to use provided you don't start off expecting it to be something which it isn't. In the early days most folks had much smaller screens, and keeping as much of it as possible clear for track design was important. So for example the mouse action panel can be hidden from view if it is in the way (the Delete key toggles ...

... a background shape by clicking on it, rather than selecting the shape out off a list of 12000 items? Hi René, Sorry, no. For a large number of background shapes, try using the "bright night" colour scheme so that you can see the change to red colour more easily. Zoom in on the area of interest. Then select the top of the shapes list and hold down the down-arrow key on the keyboard until the required shape flashes red. Presumably to get that many shapes you have imported a DXF file? The best solution therefore would be to edit the DXF file in a CAD program (there are several free ones) before importing it. If you no longer have the DXF file you can export one from Templot. To export only the background shapes, select "none" as the colour for all the other items. DXF files can also be edited in any text editor, such as Windows Notepad -- if you know the dimensions of the item you are looking for. There is an option ...

Sketchboard can add bitmap items in any of these file formats: BMP, GIF, PNG, JPG, HCK. It is important for non-rectangular objects that the background can be made transparent. Otherwise such objects would be displayed on a rectangular image patch. This means that only GIF and PNG are the real options, and sketchboard supports transparent backgrounds for both of these formats. In theory PNG is better because it can support transparency with full colour, whereas GIF is limited to 256-colour format. In practice not all image editor programs support transparent PNGs (so users might have trouble editing them if needed), and 256 colours is more ...

There was a bug in the DXF generator -- the Windows Regional Setting for the decimal separator character was used in the DXF file. In TDV# 4435 and later, a dot (full stop, period) is used in all cases regardless of the Windows Regional Setting. Well, I'm calling it a bug.
