... All of this should be done from one menu and not jumping through so many. I have spent 20 minutes getting this to work before finding out that someone has somehow altered my printer settings even though the LCD on the printer says everything was letter size. I still did not get a perfect alignment. The Inner box was off by 1 mm in each direction. I put in the actual measurements. Now the shaded cross dimensions are 1 mm too big in each direction. It appears to be unfixable. How do I print the current template showing on the monitor. The printout is a tiny box in the upper left hand corner and not the full-sized sheet I expected. 2. ... topic: 2772 Can I get grid lines or background shapes to appear on the print map? posted: 3 Nov 2015 09:19 from: Gordon S I tend to use groups to print sections of track together, particularly where I have several parallel curves. Selecting the track is not an issue using groups, but by their nature they select the whole track piece that may extend several feet beyond the end of the baseboard I am working on. It occurred to me that seeing the grid lines or background shapes on the print map would help considerably in choosing which pages to print. If I am building a corner unit, it could be 6' in each direction and I want to hold the position of each curve to each other, so have to print numerous sheets (typically 40-50 at a time). Knowing where the grid lines or background shapes were on the print map, would be a great help in choosing which pages to print. My priority at present is to get the Sketchbook and PDF output finished. The Sketchbook needs platforms, which is why I've been working on the platform edges. In addition I've been working on saving program settings between sessions. That's a can of worms if ever I've seen one. There is also a new Print Now! single click function which prints directly to the printer using the current defaults and by-passing all the preview, setup and calibration options. I have also started an interactive beginner's guide within the program itself, i.e. "click this and see what happens". I have concluded that this is the only way to get some folks started -- quite a few have freely admitted that they won't read manuals, web pages or watch videos. I want to print the track plan in four long sections. I can print the horizontal sections but Templot doesn't like altering the orientation to Side Run while set to banner/roll paper. Is it a case of having to group the templates, Rotate Group 90 degrees then either alter the page origin or Shift group to get it to where I want it, or am I overlooking an easier way? It's not exactly difficult but it's a bit of a faff getting the grid to line up. At least the board shapes can automatically follow the track plan as it moves. Thanks. I have isolated most templates for printing by selecting groups and then 'output>print group templates only' which works fine. I believe the best technique is to select the necessary templates as group members and then omitting and printing the required sheets in the print dialogue. But is there a more efficient method? Just in case anyone else is looking for a new A3 printer. I have previously needed to calibrate my printers but recently acquired an Epson WF7515 A3 ink-jet printer. ... all! For ages I've wanted an A3 or A3+ printer but they've always seemed too big or too expensive. I got fed up with sticking bits of A4 paper together for even quite small templates. I've now bought myself an HP Officejet 7110 from ebuyer for not much over £100, it's relatively small for an A3 printer and has a wireless connection which for me is important so I can tuck it under a chair when not in use, with no cabling to unplug. Reviews suggest it's not that good for photo printing, but frankly if you want an A3 photo printed, it's cheaper to go to a print shop! The next problem was paper. A3 copy paper is abundant, A3+ photo paper is abundant, but A3+ decent quality plain paper isn't! Eventually I found a company called FirstForPaper who list Swift paper, and the 120gsm is available as a special size of 13" x 19" (A3+). It's relatively expensive at 16p/sheet if you buy 250 sheets, but before splashing out I ordered ...

Define a page format big enough to show your entire plan (in Windows XP, you do this in Printers and Faxes -> File -> Server Properties and use the Forms tab. I found by experiment that it won't do any form bigger than 5 metres...). "Print" your Templot plan to this "printer" and lo! you will have a PDF file of your plan.
