... what I could do in the space available 4mm. Why not OO?- well after O OO track just doesn't look right, both the gauge and the over-wide 6ft. Reading up on P4 suggested that 1000mm (~ 4ft) would need to be the minimum radius so more out of interest in Templot that anything else I bunged the 7mm plan into Templot and converted it to P4. It worked almost perfectly- only the single-slip, at 11ft by 12ft on the plan, needed anything more than tiny adjustments to length and/or curve. Half of the slip went over length and needed a bit of surgery to make it fit. Having fount that FB point components are a bit scarce on the ground I also converted everything to BH rail. The original was the area 'above' the 8ft line, and to the left of the 10ft line. Bearing in mind the 1000mm min radius I can indeed get a tail-chaser in, and with a branch line to boot that handily covers the weird track spacing on the ...

Cheers Simon handby posted: 15 Jul 2013 09:02 from: LSWRArt Hi Simon Butatone is a liquid adhesive, so I guess it slightly melts the plastic of the chair. It is really designed for glueing plastic chairs to plastic sleepers but, depending on the wood stain you use, it sometimes seems to work between the plastic chairs and wooden sleepers. I suspect that it would not work between plastic chairs and metal rail. How long does Loctite 406 give you to adjust the rail position before grabbing hard? Also, have you any idea what is the difference between 406 and 435 and why you would use one rather than the other? We are lucky in 0 gauge that we can buy proper checkrail chairs, so I only glue the common crossing soldered strip to the sleepers. On all the other chairs the rail can slide through to allow for expansion and contraction. Obviously if you are using split chairs you have to glue the rail to these and the chair to the sleeper, but ...

... the conversion should be fine. For other conversions there's a bit of a snag. If you change the gauge:scale ratio, for example going from EM to P4, it is mathematically impossible to make a perfect conversion of an entire track plan. Each template will be correctly converted, but the lead lengths of turnout and half-diamond templates will change, and as a result you may find some slight gaps or overlaps between the templates which will need tidying up after doing the conversion. However, often the amount of adjustment needed is small, and much quicker than starting again from scratch. Plain track templates should always convert ok. regards, Martin. posted: 12 Jul 2013 17:13 from: Nick Edgcombe Martin, Many thanks for the speedy reply. (Or better still where should I have gone to find out the information?) Likewise the pre-set option for the ring diameter assumes 11ft-2in centres (adjusted for any under-scale track gauge). This information is included in the? help notes on the spacing-ring dialog. The easiest way to work with widened spacings is to use# in the data-entry dialog. But you would then need to roam it into alignment with the double track, whereas the above method does that automatically. Unlike an ordinary crossover there isn't usually a reverse curve at the centre, so in this case curviform V-crossings are acceptable.
