... topic: 2939 Translation of templot posted: 23 Nov 2016 22:06 from: Jerome FAGOT Hello everyone and martin I know templot for a few years but I have decided to use it recently. This is a great software but I find it quite complex learning, especially for me who do not speak English. Are translations planned and if not, is there any way we can modify the menus to translate the terms into our language? Templot is exactly what I needed to plan my future N-scale network, which should be quite complex and large. In addition I love the switches, it is for me a real passion and I could spend hours in front of a railway station grill to study the changes of multiple tracks. My difficulty lies mainly in the fact that I can link the paths between them, the procedures seem to me long and very complex. A thousand thanks to Martin for inventing and writing this software. See you soon FAGOT Jérôme (from France) PS: translated on internet posted: 30 Nov 2016 23 ...

Fortunately we already have Nils's open-source XML engine used for the sketchboard SK9 files: http://sourceforge.net/projects/simdesign/files/trunk/nativexml/ So I was able to use that more or less as-is, and much to my relief I found that it compiled in Lazarus with only a few minor tweaks. Not a problem other than the page identification letters are now different and the only way to line it up is using the track itself. The original plan- on a curve- had some slightly 'curvy linear' sidings which I couldn't see how to replicate. I found ways to add track but it doesn't flow as I hoped. I also tried using curviform V crossings- but this didn't seem to help. Really I'm quite pleased with the outcome as my first try but I would be delighted if somebody more experienced might have a few minutes to cast an eye over the outcome please? I've also attached my scan which is obviously copyrighted to OS- I doubt they'll mind too much as it's for educational purposes and a very old map. I've found a nice little project, but it has flat bottom rail/ turnouts. I remember reading Martin's comments that the geometry is different (to me it looks the same, but I would like to get it right). NB this area was relaid early/mid 1970s and I know FB has changed since then. Could anyone kindly point me to any information online? I don't want to ask anyone to repeat what has undoubtedly already been written, but my searches have come to nought. Also, does anyone have any experience with the Peco Pandrol clips? I know they're overscale and in any case not exactly what was there at the time, but close enough. Many thanks for any suggestions. Perhaps I need to take lessons in search engines. If after choosing a scheme you go to this dialog again: 2_310735_530000000.png and then cancel it, the previously chosen setting won't change, but it will be removed from the preferences setting, reverting to the sky-blue default in the preferences. I will get this fixed. The work-around is to choose the same scheme again. A few things to note: 1. this works only if you choose a specific colour scheme using the dialog above. It doesn't work if you set a specific scheme or change the individual colours in the trackpad menu. I will get this changed. 2. it works only if your monitor is set for what Windows used to call "Hi-Color" depth. But there is one big snag, and I don't know how to tell you this -- it's not 0 gauge. You have designed it using the fictional startup T-55 gauge at 5.5mm/ft. You should have received a warning about this a few minutes after starting the Templot session. It would be possible to do an instant conversion, but then of course it would not be 8ft radius, and may introduce some discrepancies. So I would recommend starting again in 0 gauge -- click in the gauge menu before you begin, and choose your gauge. 0-MF is now regarded by many as the best option for new layouts. They are 10 inches wide and 5 inches thick. That scales to 3.3mm wide in 4mm/ft scale models (00, EM, P4). The bearers under turnouts and other pointwork are called crossing timbers, usually just timbers. They are 12 inches wide and 6 inches thick. That scales to 4.0mm wide in 4mm/ft scale models. A few special ones are sometimes wider at 14 inches or even 16 inches where needed to support the chair castings for bullhead rail.
