... Jun 2009 10:16 from: Howard I'm using Templot 0.91.c on Windows XP. I'm struggling to make a transition curve from a 3" straight that enters my 4' by 2' baseboard 41.5 cm from the front edge and leaves via a 3" straight 175 cm from the other end (of the 4'). Sorry about the mixed measurements! This is 2mm/N Gauge. I first make a guess at a transition curve, using something between 24" and 36" radii, but then need to adjust it. I'd prefer to do this interactively without having to re-enter all the numbers. I cannot get <Shift><CTRL><F1> or the "-" key to do anything. No little window for changing the 1st trans. radius appears, and moving the mouse just moves the whole track plan. Likewise for the 2nd trans. radius. Using the menu option "action|transition radius options" also has no effect. Perhaps there is a better way to make my transition curve, ...

... topic: 308 Bug warning -- transition adjustments in roll-out mode posted: 13 Jan 2008 05:11 from: Martin Wynne Dear all, It's not often I report a fatal bug in Templot, but I have just found one, so please steer clear of it. If you change to the seldom-used action> transition zone options> transition fixed (roll-out) mode for the mouse actions, the adjust transition length mouse action (SHIFT+ CTRL+ F4) will produce an irrecoverable error if the transition length is reduced to zero, or is zero or close to zero before you start. The only option then is to do CTRL+ ALT+ DEL and end the Templot task from the list. You won't lose any template data other than the current/control template -- background templates will be restored when you restart Templot. But you will lose any unsaved background shapes. A similar error may occur when adjusting the transition start (SHIFT+ CTRL+ F3), but in that case it's recoverable by ...

Then the final diamond at D is around 1:6.5 and just about long enough for a conventional inside slip in 00. I imagine the same idea could be applied to the other diagonal road. rather than guessing a number, making the track then using the roll vehicle only to find that it was too wide or not wide enough You shouldn't need to guess, you can now adjust the track spacing by mouse action with a dummy vehicle present. That way you can find the spacing needed: 2_141321_450000000.png Put a copy of the dummy vehicle in place first, and then roll it to the conflict position. There is however a flashing red warning "lamp" when any section of the control template infringes your set radius warning, and you can see on the info panel which is the offending radius. I have made you a video clip showing that: http://flashbackconnect.com/Default.aspx?id=dZA9Gdfo6pI0EZe_25OCUQ2 The return curve radius in a parallel V-crossing can be adjusted by changing the turnout-side adjacent track centres, or by adjusting the curving of the whole template. As shown in the video. Or by changing the V-crossing angle (F5). Scroll and arrange the info panel so that you can watch the required data while making adjustments. p.s. the parallel type of V-crossing is not often used. This is in fact the 4th version of the check rail code in Templot's history. It was not simple -- which explains the long interval since the last TDV update. You then just fill in the gaps! As far as I can tell, in the turnout shown in the screenshot all timbers would be perpendicular to the straight through road. What I do is to create a new template with no rails and use that just as a timbering template. Use the timbers shown on the partial templates as a guide, and adjust the timber template timbers accordingly. Once you're happy, remove the timbers from the partial templates. You may also need to slide the check rails about a bit so they line up correctly with the timber spacing- again with the prototype as a reference, the chairs have to be in the right position relative to the flair on the check rail. Another factor I'm not entirely sure about is timber alignment. I think that the ends of the timbers on one side would be aligned, with the other side stepping the usual ...
