Scroll and arrange the info panel so that you can watch the required data while making adjustments. p.s. the parallel type of V-crossing is not often used. It is provided mainly for the situation where you want the loop turnout to be within a transition zone. The disadvantage is that it's not possible to split the exits to insert additional pointwork. If the main road is straight or on a constant radius, it is usually more convenient to use a regular V-crossing, and then tools> make return curve to start the loop, and tools> make double-track TS for the loop track. ... topic: 3260 Total timbering lengths on trackplan posted: 19 Apr 2018 22:18 from: Rob Manchester Hi Martin, The Storage box facility to add up the total length of timbering on all or some background templates is very useful. You can group some templates( say the ones containing only plain track) to sum the sleeper lengths but templates that have S&C work inserted are mixed between two widths- such as 3.3mm/10" and 4mm/12" on an EM or P4 plan. Would it be possible in a future update( ie not now or this week/month but when you have the inclination) to show the total lengths of plain track and turnout timbering as two figures rather than rolling them into one. This would help me( and others?) in checking that sufficient materials are to hand before building comences. I realise that some scale/gauge layouts may have odd timber widths or combinations but I suspect the vast majority of plans drawn using Templot have either one width throughout or a standard plain track ...

No, or at least not in traditional chaired track. Transition curves are normally used where there is a cant gradient (increasing superelevation) which means in effect that there is a twist in the track. Switch rails inserted in a twist wouldn't be able to slide properly or align with the stock rail. There is no major reason not to insert a slip as a special one-off in a flat transition curve, but I'm not aware of any. What is much more common is for an effective transition to be created by using a different fixed radius between each crossing in a ...

It is intended to base the layout on a North British branch line around the Borders. In typical NB style, turnouts will have interlaced sleepers and loose heel switches. To produce a nice sweeping curve, the main running line and the loop line have been drawn using transition s-curves. Can anyone tell me what would be the best way of incorporating two crossovers into the transition s-curves to complete the run-round loop.
