If you open up Templot with the default B6 turnout, use F4 to extend the overall length to, say 1m long. Then from the 'real' menu, Real=>customize v-crossing=>wing and check rails. In the dialogue box I would suggest clicking the "more info F1" button. In there should be all the info you need, so if you print that off and work with the template you should be able to follow what's happening. I've attached a copy of my quick reference guide to show the various sizes and which bits are which because I can never remember which size goes with which rail! I hope this will be useful, but it will only make sense once you've read the info I mentioned above! I've never actually used the option of grouping by tag from the main menu- I need to have a refresh of what's in all those menus! I think that these days "slower" is a relative term, if diamonds will be more accurate, then slightly slower is fine. Mind you, last night I was printing off a background with picture shapes and that took for ever- fortunately not something I do often and even then only to confirm the basic shape before ploughing ahead! Sometimes I don't actually use Templot for a few months by which time some of the required knowledge is gone from my grey cells. The live sessions were interesting to see and a worthwhile experiment though. There is a link on the page for even more technical information. That screen contains the Error Report contents, which includes exception info, system info, information on modules 1 through 30, and data on thread 1 which is a hexadecimal dump of a portion of memory. It is not copyable however, at least without another application. I imagine Windows has a screen print utility and I could get the data that way, but there would be a lot of screen shots. I would be happy to do this if you want it, after looking at the data I can send you (the attachments). The screen also lists a file that would be sent along with the error report to MS, which I found (hidden) and attached. The error occurs before clicking "ready, steady, click". The important point is to have a Windows printer driver available for it. That might be a bit tricky for the latest versions of Windows. I don't think it makes much difference between 9-pin and 24-pin, the driver should take care of that. Also supplies of paper and ink ribbons could be an issue. If it's Z-fold continuous paper, select the banner printing option, and also the banner fill option. All through the code there are options and settings left over from those days. Most of them are commented out, and I deleted many of them entirely from the OT/MEC files. However I do have to keep in mind that there are some Templot users who keep a battered old Windows system in their model workshops to print out track templates as needed. As far as I know Templot still runs on ancient Windows95 systems, or at least Windows98. But I haven't actually tested it for ages, and I doubt the Lazarus-compiled OT/MEC versions would do so. Anyone? That's one reason for sticking with Delphi5 as the compiler for Templot2, rather than a more up-to-date version of Delphi. It's quite quick to do -- just click on the timber's number and then press the L key (lengthen) a few times. Each press adds 6" (scale) to the length. If you wish, every individual timber and sleeper in Templot can be adjusted for exact size and position, but normally it's only necessary to adjust a few of them where they conflict. ... The control template represents the current output from the generator. So the settings you are probably looking for are in generator> generator settings> menu options. Note that to not generate any rails, there are 3 separate settings at generator settings> rails>. A few more notes -- unticking> timber outlines also prevents any timber infill being generated. If you don't generate any rails or track centre-lines at all, the zoom to fit option (SPACEBAR) won't work properly, and it may not be possible to print the template. I will look at adding further pad display options for the control template, although not displaying too many of the features which are being generated can get mighty confusing! Storing a template could cause a lot more features to appear than you were expecting. If you have a specific reason for wanting to generate a feature but not display it, can you say why? I know that a tickbox dialog for the generator settings would be more user-friendly than the menu options, and now that fewer and fewer ...
