... topic: 357 List of changed commands posted: 7 Mar 2008 23:23 from: pcalkel Martin I have been dabbling off and on with Templot for a few years printing basic turnout templates, which I have built while demonstrating at various shows. I now have room for a small layout, so I decided to try to use Templot for designing this layout. I have started using the Track Plan Tutorial from the Web Site to try to learn the program, I am using Version 0.91b, and I can not follow the plan because some of the commands that you use are different in this later version I am using. Do you have a list by version and where to find them in later versions? Paul posted: 7 Mar 2008 23:56 from: Martin Wynne Hi Paul, The Track Plan tutorial is several years old and overdue for an update. The easiest solution is to go back to Templot version 074b while you work through it. The download link for 074b is: http://www.templot.com/tug/templot_rel_074b_setup.exe Then ...

The build list isn't normally available to the user because it would just be a screenful of numbers. It can however be seen if you export a DXF file. ... be the first ever for me as I've purchased all the others ready made! I'm starting with a 5 metre radius turnout kit from Cliff Barker. The moulded sleepers have a standard size separator bar that gives a fixed gap (22.5mm) between sleeper centres as there is a clip that fixes into the next sleeper, this is to aid assembly. Whilst I could cut them all off (which I will have to do when I get into the more complex formations) I would like to retain them and change the template to print out with a standard sleeper spacing. I've spent some time creating a custom turnout but still can't find a way to specify a constant sleeper gap over the full length of the turnout. I would appreciate any help you you can offer. ... Smith's GWR switch and crossing practice book, blocked crossing work on page 91 shows at 1. the diamond 'V' check in the centre of the turnout 'V' approaches only flared at one end and the other end machined to a blunt nose. That check rail end is such a special with a very short machined flare on both sides that it would be difficult to cover it in Templot, you would have an intimidating screen full of tickbox options. I think this is a case where you either pencil it in on the printed template, or go in for some intricate partial templates. At present you can set only a single flare length for all the V-crossing check rail ends, and machined/bent option for the whole template. However, waiting in the wings is the option to adjust all check rail ends independently by mouse action. Here is a sneak look at the dialog -- but please note this is NYA (not yet available) and it may not be for some time, or look like this when it is: ...

... topic: 1989 PDF Creation posted: 19 Jun 2012 12:13 from: Ray Hughes I chose to create a PDF file of just a couple of pages in order to print out of a template for a point that spans two pages. The initial PDF file created OK and, upon examining it I realised that I needed to change the timber spacings slightly on the adjacent track. I switched back to Templot and overlooked to close the PDF file. I managed to start the PDF (re-)creation but the process stopped with the (error) message Error in BeginDoc. I just wondered whether the error message could be worded to indicate exactly what the error was. posted: 19 Jun 2012 17:57 from: Martin Wynne Ray Hughes wrote: I managed to start the PDF (re-)creation but the process stopped with the (error) message Error in BeginDoc. ...

... 7's "XP mode", please? So far I have not had to use Vista, so I was thinking that my next PC (in due course) might have Windows 7. I didn't try that mode for a number of reasons, primarily printer-related. In brief, I have a 15-ish year old bomb-proof and apparently self-refilling HP Laserjet and an ALPS MD-1300. The former is my default printer and won't work under Win7, so "XP Mode" wouldn't help when printing from Win7, and the MD-1300 drivers are so fussy that there's no way it will work in an emulated mode- it doesn't even like Vista. It would need a genuine XP install as a dual-boot system (which is what I had with Vista, but I chickened out of a triple-boot system with Win7 and installed it on a physically different hard drive.) I propose making this diamond, then lifting it off the template, and fitting it onto the original irregular slip curved template in the same way as I drew it on Templot and completing it from there. This file shows the slip with the new diamond superimposed on it, so it's a mix up, the other file shows the original slip with the diamond separated off to the bottom left to print.
