I'm in good company if Gordon of Eastwood fame has also seen the phenomena. Glad too that it's a known 'system feature.' My PC is quite old now and has a few moments so I expect the processor capability is lacking as you suggest. I've added RAM and minimized all the other demands on the processor but I know it's nearly time for retirement. (Although it should run Win10 it didn't do it very well and I reverted to 8.1 so it's built in obsolescence is starting to kick in) Thanks for attending to that curve. I was trying to even out a change in radius after that turnout where I initially had a join between two templates. I hadn't noticed it wasn't aligned. I think I'm nearly there with the plan though. I'll still perservere because it's been quite instructive in the geometry of the turnouts and the interaction between the switch settings and crossing. I had visions of mixing and matching all sorts of part templates to get the geometry but then I found the option "length of entry straight in front of fine point" in the "real> V crossing options...". Unfortunately, one man's intuitive is another man's clear as mud. The problem was that you didn't set up the required flat-bottom prototype settings for the background templates before you created them. Which is the normal way of doing anything in Templot. I could have said that you would have to delete each one in turn back to the control template, modify it to flat-bottom, and then store it again as a fresh background template. Would that have been more intuitive? If you had 200 templates to do that way, it would take you a few hours. The modify on rebuild group functions are ...

Regards Rob Attachment: attach_2624_3185_Tandem_rail_issue .box 273 posted: 16 Jan 2018 02:48 from: Martin Wynne Hi Rob, The reason for the problem is that you started with a daft unusual size of turnout, a B-12. Were you simply stress-testing the tandem function, or were you intending to use such a turnout in your track plan? I didn't think to test for such an unusual size in the code, although I did say on the web page "The starting turnout can be any reasonable size". A B-12 is not reasonable or prototypical. Having such a short switch with a long regular-type V-crossing has caused a very long crossing entry straight, which has interfered with the curve calculations. The switch size for a 1:12 V-crossing would normally be a D or E. If you use F5 to set the turnout ...

I might be wrong Derek, but as I understand it the P& M style rail and flange lubricators (which this looks like), didn't have a long treadle bar. The early versions were activated by track deflection on a steel spring which opened the ports of the grease container. The later versions worked off two little pump buttons that sat an eighth of an inch above the top of the rail on the outside attached to the container mounting. All of this was designed to sit between two consecutive chairs to allow easy placement. Two holes are drilled through the rail's web. These are hollow and allow the grease through to the grease plate assembly on the inside ...

If it was then for some reason I couldn't see that any further alignment was necessary?- Click transition template and align one half-diamond over it and snake onto peg.- Use F9 mouse action to align the V-crossing over the underlying rails.- Repeat the above with the other half-diamond.
