... topic: 1002 Printing problem posted: 1 Jan 2010 12:32 from: Gilbert B Sorry to bother you, but I have an irritating glitch which is stopping me from using Templot to its full potential. Gordon S has very kindly given me a basic tutorial on how to create templates, which is fine, but when I try to print off any template which requires more than one page all that happens is that the first page gets printed, then everything just hangs. It won't print page 2, but it won't let me delete it either! I have to switch off the PC and unplug the printer in order to clear it. The printer works OK when doing anything else, it just plays up when trying to print templates. Any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully received. Happy New Year. Full size it is absolutely brilliant. Hi Andy, You can get reasonable results by switching the rails off for printing, and setting a thick track centre-line. Say 30mm wide for 4mm scale. Then print the pad to fit a single page. The red trim margins can be suppressed by simply changing their colour to white. The track centre-line prints in the same colour as the rail edges, so you can change that to whatever you want. I have made a bit of Jing video showing these changes being made (it may take a short while to load): ...

... topic: 653 Timber numbering and print rows posted: 4 Dec 2008 01:59 from: Gordon S Hi Martin/guys, couple of questions on timber numbering. When do they change? I sent of a dfx file for printing and got the print back today. I needed to align the new plan with parts of an earlier one, so printed a small section of the plan from the box file, which aligned with a specific point in the room. When I went to align this with the new dfx print, I noticed the timber numbers had changed. I don't think I have changed anything in the original box file so was a little surprised to see the timber numbers were different in the dfx file. Perhaps I did change something and can't recall it, but would be interested to understand the logic. Also wanted to see timber numbers on the screen, so went to pad, pad options, show timber numbers and the egg cup came up but nothing appears to have changed on the screen. Any ideas? One other ...

When printing in portrait mode, the left side of the printed frame is 278.5 mm long and the right side of the frame has 279 mm, and the whole printout is trapezoidal distorted accordingly. The horizontal sides of the frame have the same length. In April my old PC with Windows 2000 and Templot 91c crashed, it was a Motherboard failure. Now I have a new Motherboard and have Win 7/64 and Templot 2.09 installed. The printer is a Canon IP5200 and still the same. Under W2k the prints were very precise and stitching 3-meter long track planes together was easy, at the ends the difference was normally within the thickness of the frame line. With the prints off Win 7, I have difficulties to stitch together a single turnout, which stretches over three sheets. The difference amounts to more than the wide of the railhead already! With a new video recorder everyone has the same objective -- unpack and assemble it, plug it in and switch it on, try recording something. If all else fails read the manual. Whereas new users arriving at Templot do not all share the same objective. A P4 modeller might arrive wanting to create and print a set of construction templates for Great West of Scotland Railway interlaced turnouts, 1904 pattern, with 80lb/yard rail. He won't be needing an explanation of how crossing angles are measured, but he will need an explanation of how to adjust the check rails. We have an apparent stalemate- for years I have been saying we really need a fully indexed 'How to...' booklet. I recall I even offered to print and publish it. Martin counters this suggestion with two oft repeated comments: 1. "You cannot have enhancements if I am spendimg time engaged on other things". Possibly true, but what good are enhancements if you cannot get to grips with the basic programme? Now Martin is a helpful chap and produces 'one off solutions' to help the confused.
