... them. In fact they are not fully developed, as you found. For example you can't split the exit, and the turnout-side platforms don't work. Those items are on my NOD list (nice one day), but not near the top. They do have the advantage that they work for a transition curve template, whereas make return curve does not. But that is easily overcome using the make transition functions. The big advantage of having a separate template for the return curve is that a turnout can be inserted in it. There is a very old tutorial about return curves here -- it needs updating: http://templot.com/martweb/mintut1a.htm regards, Martin. posted: 19 Apr 2017 18:15 from: Panos Tsirigotis Thank you Martin but as I can see from the tutorial a "return curve" function makes a curved brunch track from the turnout while I need to exit straight from the turnout and make the curving at a distance from the turnout. Hi Richie, As Phil says, it is usually best to lay out the running lines first, and then insert pointwork into them as needed. But with such an iconic junction, you may find that the running lines need a bit of tweaking in order to fit in all the diamonds. Doing it in 00-SF rather than exact-gauge does mean that all the crossings will be in slightly different places (a 00 diamond-crossing is shorter than the same angle diamond in P4). It allows the lengthening or shortening of the main road but it appears to do very strange things: If the turnout is inserted in a length of track then the main-road exit can only be shortened, in which case, the sleepers are left in position. It cannot be lengthened, beyond the template but the length indication says that it is lengthening. The extension can be split off. Can you post a screenshot or a .box file? If you want a turnout on an existing transition curve template you can simply insert a turnout in the template. Then roam it along to wherever you want it, not necessarily within the transition zone. You can then if you wish split off any approach or exit track as separate templates. Or if it is special custom turnout you can use the align functions instead to align it over the transition template. Or if the turnout position came first, you can change it to a transition curve template, extend the length of it, and then adjust the position of the transition zone markers beyond the turnout ...

To have a library of pre-designed formations would require a vast range of different radii. And there is no point in doing it for the plain turnouts and diamonds because you can create those in Templot with just a few clicks, almost as easily as selecting a ready-made one.
