A few compromises and changes have been required due to my intention to build the layout in my garage. If anyone is interested in having a look I would like to hear their comments. 3181_141308_360000000.png There is still some work to do to finish the plan. The 3-way into the yard needs finishing but I have still to lay out one of the sidings before doing so. Over on the left hand end are three curves, the outer is a siding, the middle curve the mainline and the inner curve is actually a loop. I have had to finish the inner loop inside the F/Y as there wasn't room for the complete length within the scenic boundary. A catchpoint also needs installing in the top end of the loop. Due to the tight curvature of these curves the turnouts have had to be made quite long to ease their minimum radius ...

... topic: 485 Email blocking again posted: 12 Jul 2008 04:06 from: Martin Wynne Now demon.co.uk has joined Comcast in blocking all emails from Templot Club and also my off-group emails. I'm not prepared to jump through the hoops which these ISPs demand in order to accept our emails. Even when I do, they start blocking again after a few days, when their useless filtering software detects what it regards as spam from some other user on the same ISP mail server as us. If you are on demon.co.uk or Comcast for email, you may not realise that they are blocking your legitimate emails. Currently this applies to 5 members of Templot Club who receive direct emails. The only thing I can suggest is that you swap to receiving Templot Club messages via the Yahoo group. Even that may not work, this page from Demon is distinctly stroppy about Yahoo groups messages. Email filtering programs are now a bigger menace than the spam. The cure is worse than the disease! Martin. posted: 30 Jul 2008 22:44 ...

It will also tolerate slight oil contamination of parts, which is good if you are using rail as supplied from the wire-drawers and haven't degreased it. The snag is that they are not recommended for use on plastics (obviously one of the components needs to be metal, otherwise it won't cure). They did some emergency work overnight, but there have been problems again this morning. I spent most of yesterday on slow dial-up, and I can't imagine how we ever managed! But I was pleasantly surprised how well these forums coped on dial-up -- the page style we are using is based almost entirely on css with only a few small graphics. The top logo is the worst offender at 4KB, I will maybe remove the shadow effect to reduce that. Here the biggest broadband problem is exchange congestion. The problem seems to be that BT operate a "last in, first out" policy. Connect up at a quiet time during the day and the connection will then run for days. If you are buying a new computer with Vista, and just follow through the usual Templot install without trying to change anything, I'm confident that all will be fine.
