Attachment: attach_2559_3119_worcester_street _mpd_v1.box 244 posted: 3 Nov 2017 23:37 from: Tony W Changing the crossing angle of the first turnout can make a significant difference. In this case I have changed it from 1 in 7 to 1 in 6.5 with the result that the third crossing has changed from 1 in 20 to 1 in 12, still long but a significant improvement. Tandem Turnouts are challenging as there are limited combinations that will work. The standard modellers combination is generally B-6+ B-8. I have also moved the switches of the two starting Turnouts further apart to allow for full blade opening. If you wish I can do the rest of the design for you or you can pay around with it yourself. As a past user of Templot I was able to slot into many of the changes whilst others took some getting used to (not quite sure that I have actually) What has come glaringly obvious is the continued absence of a User Manual. The system is a tribute to the orignality and brilliance of Martin which in the scope of its facility is truly awesome. I have to add that the use of its power is let down by the absence of any progress in respect to a user friendly guide. A "Templot for Dummies" for want of a simile. Gentle Geometry and Bobble Hat type type aids are essential in their content for the beginner (and senile brains such as myself) but they are discontinuous, individualistic in presentation and hard to collate into a rational aid. Unfortunately, if the check rail chairs you wish to use have 1.75mm flangeways, your options are a bit restricted. I suggest using a custom track gauge of 31.75mm, thus creating the same 30.0mm check gauge as for 0-MF, and applying a fixed 0.25mm gauge-widening throughout. You can then use 1.5mm flangeways at the V-crossing and gain the same improved running with full support through crossings as for 0-MF. You can't do that at 32mm gauge with 30.25mm check gauge because the check span might be a bit too wide for some wheels. regards, Martin. posted: 13 Jan 2012 14:52 from: LSWRArt Hi Martin That is certainly an interesting idea if I can find someone who could make me some 31.75mm gauges. In fact there were plenty of junctions sited where the only reason for a station was that lines met there, rather than local demand. Such stations often had limited or even no local goods facilities, but probably had several sidings for routing traffic, plus reasonable loco servicing facilities. One thing which struck me about the plan was that space for storing stock is limited; with the sort of junction I've outlined it might be possible to improve that. What I suggest might be worth considering is replacing the goods yard by a smaller one up in the north east corner. You'd then have space for a slightly larger loco facilities plus at least a couple of sidings for holding traffic in transit where the goods yard was. You might find it a good idea to have an additional trailing crossover between the inner and middle loops at the east end of the junction to make manouvering a bit easier. At the same time I'd see if the terminal road and run around ...

Far, far more time than actually creating the program in the first place. And I don't enjoy doing it. If I had known how much work is involved in writing the Help stuff for a program I very much doubt that I would have ever released Templot in the first place. I just don't know the answer to this, except to say that I'm doing my best and will hopefully get there in the end. This is supposed to be a dockside environment and so would expect small stock- the min rad accepted for this is 4' hence the v5 turnouts, increasing the v too much would move away from prototypical for this scenario- plus use too much of the space available...
