The detail therefore has to be simplified, and the actual result depends on the resampling algorithm used. Here are some images to illustrate that: Original crop from your 400% image: 2_031102_590000000.png Simple shrink zoom to 25% of that= your 100%. ... start the layout proper... Regards David R Last edited on 22 Sep 2012 16:42 by David R posted: 17 Feb 2013 17:59 from: David R The latest track items available from Off The Rails are some GER chairs with separate keys. These were drawn after a local S7 group meeting as some of the members wanted to try them out. At one stage the chair was to have fixing holes for the spikes and trenails to be inserted: thankfully sanity prevailed. 100_171246_170000000.jpg Inserting the keys has been simplified by arranging the sprue so that the key can be fitted before detaching it. 100_171248_300000000.jpg Sorry about the depth of field. The rail is an 1/8" tall so shown somewhat larger than full size here. Now available from http://www.shapeways.com/model/832355 but as the cost is over 20p per chair I don't expect to see many models of Liverpool Street built with them! posted: 9 Mar 2013 00:59 from: Ian Allen Oh my giddy aunt! ... it is hard coding your menus. You had to do all this before modern programming tools became available. I programmed data base systems for thirty years using Oracle, Foxpro and what have you. All of these systems contain their own libraries so that the developer did not have to hard code menus. E.g. with Foxpro a developer can program numerous multipage screens containing dozens of toolbars and buttons with just a few lines of code. The latest programming environments from Python, Dabo and many from Microsoft go even further in attempts to simplify building web pages and screens so that the developer can concentrate on the content of the application. Again I am not trying to harass you but am really trying to learn this system and hope that it can be made easier on a beginner. posted: 20 Jan 2011 05:54 from: Martin Wynne Nicholas Geti wrote: Every Windows program that I use has some kind of Preference file. ... topic: 1332 my first layout attempt- brackhampton snow hill posted: 8 Jan 2011 23:23 from: rovex This is a first attempt at a plan for a new layout I hope to build (once I've built the shed to put it in), its loosely based on the old Birmingham Snow Hill, but much reduced and because the station throat has to be on a curve the point work has had to be simplified, for example the tracks which cross from the bottom of the station to the carriage sidings which will be top right when drawn are going to have to be omitted. I've not mastered the finer points of the system such as shoving timbers or doing three way points properly, but any comments gratefully accepted. regards Rovex Attachment: attach_965_1332_snow_hill.box 426 posted: 9 Jan 2011 10:02 from: JFS Wow, lots of track! Should be an excellent operational layout when its done. Just one tip which I learnt the hard way. There might be a fair few devils in the detail of your plan in that some ...

... topic: 1270 D12 slip or D12 scissors in P4 posted: 10 Oct 2010 22:30 from: Richard Spratt The entrance to the extended Awrhyllgwami Quarry fiddle yard requires a D12 scissors on a 48" radius curve as per the trackplan in the simplified box file (none of the extra Vees have been added). An alternative to this is to slide one pair of crossovers along so that the outer pair lie toe to Vee as per the upper plan in the box file. Is there anything inherently better about either approach? Will one design lead to better running? Or are both design doomed before we start? Thanks. Attachment: attach_917_1270_D12_options.box 369 posted: 11 Oct 2010 17:03 from: JFS Just had a quick look- couple of comments. On your top option, the switches come "inside" the checks for the common crossings- when you open it out it takes up a fair bit of length. On the Scissors option, there might be issues of how to adequately check the vees for the two "inner" ...

... this so I'm not looking for prototypical perfection! 1) Do the turnouts look reasonable and workable and 2) If so, what essential work do I need to do to the timbers. Thanks Richard Attachment: attach_868_1246_1_Layout_6.box 349 posted: 14 Sep 2010 21:44 from: Nigel Brown Hi Richard I don't claim to be an authority on this, but I wonder if where you've got a number of timbers jumbled up together whether or not replacing some or all of them with a couple of long timbers spanning all the tracks would simplify things. Railways tended to avoid very long timbers but sometimes used them. Other thing is you've used equalised timbering through all the turnouts, and in this case things might be neater if you use square-on to the main road. As as said, I'm not an expert, just a couple of thoughts. Cheers Nigel posted: 15 Sep 2010 12:46 from: Judi R Hi Richard, Depends on which era you're modelling.
