They will have been surveyed by chaining along the tracks, and length-wise can be taken to be accurate, unless you have clear photographic evidence to the contrary: 2_031032_290000000.png V-crossing noses are not often explicitly marked, so their apparent position is determined by the accuracy of the drawn rail lines, which can often leave something to be desired. It's easy to see if the track gauge has been drawn accurately to scale, by aligning a P4 (or S7 etc.) template over it. If it is, it's reasonable to assume that the track spacing is also drawn to scale. If not, you can usually assume that the track is at 6ft way (11ft-2in ...
