Hi Antonio, I'm glad it worked. Now you can save your .bgs file and then change your regional settings back. You won't need the .dxf again. The line thickness can be changed on the font/colours tab. regards, Martin. posted: 18 May 2011 12:27 from: Godfrey Earnshaw Hi All I am having problems trying to import a DXF file created in AutoCAD 2009. ... topic: 2881 Export .dxf with rail foot posted: 24 May 2016 07:41 from: PaulTownsend I am using the export to .DXF function and want output to include the rail foot that can be drawn for flat bottom rail. I have been using this with the rail foot defined as 5mm wide which gives a good simulation of 4mm scale Broad Gauge baulks. I now want to laser cut the baulks so need to be able to create a cutting file from CAD that just shows baulks i.e "rail-foot". The print to paper function works fine, showing rail head as usual and optional rail foot too. I had assumed the .dxf output would include rail-foot. AFAICS it doesn't. I am a bit pushed for time to get a lot of baulks cut and BG track laid for an upcoming exhibition. Can I ask a pretty please to Martin to enable the rail-foot to .dxf in such a way that it appears in CAD as a separate layer? posted: 24 May 2016 08:19 from: Martin ...

But for 50 years I have made capital purchases based on sound financial criteria. Surely now I can let my heart rule for once? I may never get my money back, but boy, I really am enjoying myself. Also I realise I did not answer young Paul Boyd's questions fully. Paul, if you have a .DXF, .DWG, .CDR, ,AI file, I can work from these. I can also work from bitmaps. But before you do anything, please liaise with me regarding colours. With lasers, everything works by colours and I can email a specific palette to you. ... DXF export. Can you give us a bit more detail? Note that the above didn't use the DXF export, it was created from the native printing function. regards, Martin. posted: 27 Mar 2009 10:20 from: Mike Pogson Hi Martin, Thanks for your quick response. I visited the C&L forum and I was astonished at the B*** S*** expressed as fact. Where did this business come from that laser cutters would only work with Coreldraw .cdr files, or that .dxf files needed to be converted to .cdr files. This was being talked about seriously by people that I would have thought would know better. I can state categorically that I have never used coreldraw to control my laser cutter. I have had a Universal Laser System (same brand I believe as Brian Lewis has) for nearly 3 years and it has always been linked to my CAD programme, Rhinoceros. I model 2-rail 0 scale and am interested in #6 through #12 straight and curved switches. Hi Bruce, Welcome to Templot Club. First and foremost, in the UK and Templot a "switch" is only that part of a turnout which comprises the moving switch blades (points), not the whole turnout. Consequently it is meaningless in Templot to refer to a #6 switch -- this is a #6 turnout: startup_pad.png If you refer ...

... included in Templot's automatic restore feature after a system malfunction. If you have done a lot of work with background shapes it is worth saving a .bgs file immediately, rather than waiting until the end of the Templot session. More about background shapes at: http://www.templot.com/martweb/gs_bgshape.htm It's not helpful to think in terms of a single work file when using Templot. The current contents of the workpad can have come from several different files -- several .box files, several .bgs files, .bmp image files, .dxf file imports, etc. The idea is that you load only as much of your project as you need for whatever you are working on. But most other applications seem to work well with the old Version 12 of DXF and any drawing/graphic package producing DXF files should give the option to output this version. Even AutoCAD has this version available. Jim posted: 12 Aug 2013 20:35 from: LSWRArt Hi Peter I have created laser cutting files to make a model of Lyme Regis station, which was subsequently cut by Lasercraft Devon. They took .dxf files, which nearly all the agencies accept, so I assume that this will work with most cutters. Nearly all the agencies use an old version of Autodesk files. Try something like Acad 2004, because a cutter will usually be backwards compatible with an earlier file type, but they are not forward compatible to more modern file types. If dxf does not work, you could try CorelDRAW v12 (or earlier), which some agencies use. The agencies all use different colours for different layers and one colour is the ...
