However, when I apply this for other turnouts the timbering stays as per the Templot default. I have also tried copying a whole turnout and adding this but usually I get a message saying I cannot do this because it is already in the storage box. I can manually modify every turnout but for a layout 70' x 22' some short cuts are desirable! Any help would be appreciated. At the moment I'm trying to identify what the slips actually were. From what few pictures I can find on the Internet, the slips look like normal slips but a BR plan of the station (attached) that I found shows the slips to be Barry slips. It appears that the track at the station was modified quite a lot over the years so it could be that the Barry slips existed at one time, to be replaced by "proper" slips at a later date. I'll also dig out my 1963 Constructors which has a series on the I.o.W railways. Jim. I am modelling a Midland Railway c1900 Double slip and from signal box diagrams I have seen, the stretcher bars are indeed connected together at each end so there are 2 levers in the SB to control the double slip. I have built the DS in 7mm scale and have 2 rods (at each end) connected to the 2 stretcher bars as in the diagram posted. I would like to understand how these two rods are connected back to the SB. I assume that there would be 2 adjusting cranks as in my photo attached and then a connection of the two rods leaving the adjusting cranks?- however I cannot find any drawings or photos to support this assumption. ... station I have failed to reproduce to my satisfaction for many years. After discovering Templot things became a lot more promising. I had always failed to to make a satisfactory interpretation in the space I had available. I was in a continuous loop trying to model the whole station in a space that was just too small. It is still a work in progress as the goods shed presents problems being on the curve. I also have spacing issues to sort out between running lines and sidings on the curved inside of the plan. If the transition zone is too long to fit the space, try the adjusting the radius of one or both of the starting curves until the gap between them is smaller: make_t3.gif Zoom in if necessary. There must be a gap, i.e. the curves must not cross, but the smaller you can make the starting gap, so the shorter will be the resulting transition zone. Looking closer at this track, if it is continued until it meets the straight track (as if it was part of a turnout) the tracks do not co-incide, there is a slight offset. Is that correct? You could try calling up timber shoving and getting rid of the oddball sleeper. Jim.
