Also, it looks like you have taken both the point and the splice rails to the point of the vee, whereas on the prototype, the blunt nose was formed entirely in the point rail as per this illustration from Martin... gallery/2 ...

It started out as a serious go at modelling Mells Road (between Frome and Radstock) circa 1980, but, well, you know.... So now it's entirely fictional, but the same general area and period. The sidings are the font of the layout. Because I like signals, the four roads at the back are infact four single line branch lines. The two rearmost ones will disappear into bridges/tunnels so things can be hidden there temporarily, the other two branches just disappear into the wall, also through bridge/tunnel mouths. There will be a platform against the road between the two rearmost branches, with a signal box above (because I fancy doing all the point rodding) as the layout is cut into the side of a hill for some reason ...

The question is: would points in the yard have plained or bent check rails/vee ends? (It's safe to assume that these have been re-laid pretty recently). This photo shows bent ones on a main line Bent Check Rails, but then it is generally assumed that all flat bottom points have plained ones. Clearly the assumption is no wholly correct, does anyone have a photo of a set of points in an early 80's yard with bent ends? I just want to be able to say to any nit-pickers that bent ends are, or aren't, ok. The reason I ask is that plained ends don't somehow look right in sidings.
