These match the extended lines you get on the sleepers when printing out a template to construct track work, where they are quite useful. However they do nothing for the look in a 3D rendering. I also have AutoCAD, and can see the extended sleeper guides there too, so I know it must be something I need to change in Templot in order to remove them. ... topic: 3049 XTrackCAD imports- Templot2 and Templot3 posted: 21 Jul 2017 19:27 from: Martin Wynne The free XTrackCAD program is still going strong after all these years, despite other free programs such as SCARM which have come since, and the popular free version of AnyRail. http://www.xtrkcad.org As far as I know, XTrackCAD and 3rd PlanIt (not free) are still the only other layout design programs which will export DXF files in a format which can be imported directly into Templot's background shapes as a design guide. This has the advantage over using a screenshot as a background picture shape in that you can zoom in without it becoming pixellated and so work to greater precision. So I thought I would post a new topic containing some old notes about this. There is an old page showing Templot tracks designed over a DXF import from XTrackCAD at: http://85a.co.uk/ision/rene_tandem.htm Like this: rene_tandem4.gif Note that the tracks shown in grey are background shapes imported from XTrackCAD, they are not Templot templates and ...

... shape by clicking on it, rather than selecting the shape out off a list of 12000 items? Hi René, Sorry, no. For a large number of background shapes, try using the "bright night" colour scheme so that you can see the change to red colour more easily. Zoom in on the area of interest. Then select the top of the shapes list and hold down the down-arrow key on the keyboard until the required shape flashes red. Presumably to get that many shapes you have imported a DXF file? The best solution therefore would be to edit the DXF file in a CAD program (there are several free ones) before importing it. If you no longer have the DXF file you can export one from Templot. To export only the background shapes, select "none" as the colour for all the other items. DXF files can also be edited in any text editor, such as Windows Notepad -- if you know the dimensions of the item you are looking for. There is an option in the ...

I did notice in passing that RC is being discussed on the Scalefour forum, but I haven't yet studied those topics. My main interest at present is not the RC, but to create 3D printed track, test its durability, wear resistance under traffic, ease of assembly, ease of printing, user interface in Templot, etc. You have probably noticed in the current Templot versions that the DXF export dialog is now a work-in-progress again after remaining unchanged for years. I just need to be sure that RC/battery is a practical way to run a working indoor model railway, rather than just an interesting workbench exercise. Otherwise a 3D printed track project will be a waste of my time. So some links to working RC layouts would be welcome. My own interest initially would probably be in 7mm scale. This has caused users so much confusion that it will be changed in the next Pug version -- Templot will automatically put a copy of the image in the folder for you, in its own SK8 format. However, if you have reached the 32,000 shapes limit, it's unlikely that you are using a picture shape. You have probably imported a DXF file which has been vectorized from the BMP file. There is no way round the 32,000 limit, sorry. You can thin out the vectorized shapes by clicking the modify all tab> delete 25% or delete 50% buttons. This makes room to import some more if you can break your BMP image into sections before vectorizing each section to separate DXF files. Alternatively there are probably some settings in your vectorizing software to control the complexity of the DXF file and the number of entities created. Most users find ...
