... so much you can do with background shapes and shoved timbers. If you can create the signals as small bitmap graphics you could possibly add them as picture shapes. But if you have a virtual printer, you can create an image or metafile which you can open in any drawing package, and then add the signalling detail there. One of the best virtual printers is part of Snagit: http://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.asp which can save in EMF metafile format for good quality vector graphics. There is also the DXF option which would allow you to create a signalling diagram in CAD. ... . I can't really believe I did this but I am the only one allowed to use this computer so unless there is a virus out there aimed at you I can think of no other explanation. The only thing is that I have been in and out of hospital again recently and maybe I was suffering from some kind of mental abberation. Anyway everything is gone with the exception of the actual rubbings stored in an area I back up. What I want to know is if I store your Backups, BOX-FILES, DXF-FILES and SHAPE-FILES folders in an area I back up will this allow me to reinstall Templot and then replace them to restore it to the state I had reached or are there other aspects I must provide for? Regards, Ken I just thought, maybe Templot was caught up in one of my Temp clearance sessions, unlikely I know but the actual deletion defies explanation anyway. ... Manchester Hello george, Have you done the track plan yet? What scale/gauge will it be? You will need to make some compromises with putting catenary on a model unless you have a lot of space for the layout. Curves are often much tighter than the real ones and the spacing between masts will need to be closer than scale too. Rob posted: 18 Oct 2011 14:48 from: Alan McMillan Hi I've developed two ways of doing catenary. The first one was to export my Templot plan as a DXF file and add mast positions and contact wire lines thereafter in Corel Draw. It works but it's time consuming and creates enormous files which my PC (3Gb processor and 2Gb of RAM) had difficulty in handling without slowing down to a crawl. My favoured method is to wait until the track is built and then place dressmakers pins into the track at the correct positions to represent the wire support points. I then stretch white cotton thread between these pins to represent the contact wires. The positions can then be moved to fine ...

For the printed output, similar settings are at print> printed drawing options> menu options. For printing I strongly recommend changing to hatched infill instead of solid if you are using bold timber infill colours. Otherwise you will use a lot of ink and risk cockling the printed construction template. Having said all that, for more complex drawings such as awning spans you may prefer to export to DXF, and do the design work in a CAD program. You can then re-import the results into the Templot background shapes. regards, Martin. posted: 16 Apr 2010 16:25 from: Jamie92208 Thanks for that Martin. I will have a play with colours.
