... topic: 117 Fremington North Yard posted: 29 Jul 2007 05:44 from: Rextanka Hello, This is my first post in the new forum, and very nice the forum is too. I'm much preferring the denizens of such places to those that lurk on lists, I think perhaps it's because actual modelling is being done on the fora I started this topic to discuss the challenges of going from a layout sketch to a workable plan, and I have a specific plan in mind. Martin has very kindly offered to help with this so I created the topic so we can talk about it, hopefully this will be of great utility to other members. The layout in question is a P4/Demu challenge layout. For those not familiar I have a thread on a different forum discussing the construction of the layout, I'll keep this thread mainly for the specific topic of the track work. The challenge is described in some detail in the first post of the topic, together with a wonderful link to a youtube film that has a signalman from ...

... topic: 130 Your screen width posted: 15 Aug 2007 16:19 from: Martin Wynne Dear all, If you have been following the "Fremington" topic you may have noticed that I have been playing about with the page script. I have DIVed out the text so that you don't need to scroll sideways to read it when the topic includes wide images. You may still need to scroll to see the whole of the images, of course. The problem with that is that the text width is now fixed and anyone on an 800 wide screen does have to scroll sideways a little to get the full text column. If I reduce the text width to fit the whole page on an 800 screen it makes it unnecessarily narrow on wider screens. Another problem is that IE does things differently from other browsers. It would be good to know how many members are using each screen size. So here's a quick poll. Choose your answer and then click the Vote button. After voting you can click the View Results link to see the ...

... topic: 132 Problem in Firefox 2.0.0.6 posted: 16 Aug 2007 18:52 from: Martin Wynne Dear all, There seems to be a problem in the latest update to Firefox (2.0.0.6) in finding page anchors. Click a link to a specific message, such as: topic 117- message 611 (currently the most recent message in the Fremington topic, Rextanka, Aug 14th) If the page is not in the cache, the page first comes up in the wrong place. Only if you then click Reload does it finally find the correct message anchor. This seems to be worse in long topics containing image attachments. It's a great nuisance if you want to use the link in an email to go to the forum to reply. Is anyone else seeing this? Is anyone still using an earlier version of Firefox for comparison? I'm sure it was working fine until recently. IE and Opera seem to be working ok and find the correct message anchor first time. regards, Martin. posted: 16 Aug 2007 20:04 from ...

... topic: 224 Printing using an HP DJ 90r Printer with a roll feed option posted: 6 Nov 2007 23:56 from: Rextanka I hope this will be useful. This is the method I used to print out Fremington North on a HP DeskJet Printer with a roll feed option. This allows the print to be done on a single sheet if it's less than 18" wide and minimises the number of sheets needed. I hope this is useful to anyone with access to such a printer. My HP Printer is connected to an 802.1 (Ethernet) network via an HP JetDirect en3700 USB Network adapter. I made sure that I could print to this from my PC prior to starting this process. I also calibrated the printer with Templot and the roll paper installed in the printer, but with the paper size set to A4. Launch Templot version 0.91.b Load the box file you want to print If your drawing is not based at the origin and you want to minimise the number of passes needed to print then determine where the origin needs to ...

... calibrate their printer? I was hoping plans could be printed on wide rolls (up to a metre?) to reduce errors. Hi Gordon, See my reply to your similar message on RMweb: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p =184567#184567 If you save a DXF file from Templot, you can have it printed on a wide-format roll paper printer at a digital copyshop. These go up to 36" wide. For an example of such a roll paper print, see Nick's Fremington project on RMweb: DSC_0049.jpg A BOX file will be meaningless to a copyshop, it must be in DXF format. To create a DXF file from Templot, click control> storage box... and then on the storage box menus click the files> export DXF... menu item. Read the Help notes on the DXF dialog window. For printing purposes, make sure you set it for 2D output (much smaller file size) and make a note of whether the file is in inches or mm - ...

... scissors solution looks quite natural- assuming that is that all these connections are actually justified by the traffic! Best wishes, Howard. posted: 13 May 2014 19:05 from: Dave M Hi Howard, The area including the scissors crossover will be as part of a goods run round loop behind the up (uppermost) platform on Tor Giffard. Principle purpose of this runround loop is to allow freight arriving from the bottom left direction to depart in the top left direction (from the Plymouth direction and towards the Barnstaple/Fremington direction) and vice versa. Also, in the up direction the line nearer the platform can double as a goods loop. However, the operational requirements can still be achieved with a simpler (and consequently cheaper layout) than the full scissors crossing....the bottom left to top right direction through the crossing is luxury rather than necessity and therefore is unlikely to have been provided. 2297_131350_440000000.jpg undefined One difficulty is that I already have the baseframe part constructed for this area ..with cork trackbases bonded into place. Thus I'm doing ...
