See the single-key shortcuts on the chart: help> print F-key chart menu item. 4/ CTRL-F4 is the roll rails mouse action. Obviously, this is not prototype inspired. 2480_272315_180000000.png For anyone interested, Google "John Allen Timesaver" to get learn more on this fascinating concept. I have not yet gone through the 2001 tutorial and your 2008 update for building Y Turnouts. In the meantime, I have created a trackplan using HO NMRA #4 model turnouts instead., see screenshot below. 2480_272320_040000000.png I'm sure I have made a lot of mistakes in this design, but it looks like it should work. Attached is the Box file for this trackplan. Any advice on how this could be improved would be appreciated. Any advice on how to get started with a more accurate rendition of the Allen's Timesaver trackplan would also be appreciated. Is there any news on when Symmetrical Y Turnout Templates might be included in Templot? Thanks. Mark C Attachment: attach_1477_2036_timesaver_ho_no4 _2012_07_27_0345_52.box 293 posted: 28 ...

And sometimes I still forget to save More concerning is the question of unwanted templates, and I really would like to understand what users are doing to create these. I'm not sure we've established exactly where these unwanted templates are. Are we talking about multiple copies of the same template on the workpad, or unused templates in the storage box? I often end up with the latter, but that's because I'll often wipe instead of copy/delete to control if I'm not quite sure where I'm going, so may want to restore a wiped template later. It's a matter of seconds to tidy these up when they're finished with. For multiple copies on the workpad, I think the control disappearing for a second then re-appearing works OK, but maybe a compromise could be for the control to fade out and back in again. That's along the same lines as your suggestion of sliding back, and again looks deliberate instead of a bug. ...

Fixed K-crossings are limited to 1:8 max, and then only in straight track. Templot is drawing a switch-diamond instead (i.e. movable K-crossings) because that is what is required in this situation. Boat and aircraft kit manufacturers use lasers to cut components with amazing accuracy- as do model railway kit manufacturers in the US. It doesn't seem to happen here. But we are going to change all that. So for the past month I have been taking prototype track construction plans and converting them into files readable by laser. I'm assuming that those already working on Linux or other platforms may have solutions, but no-one has popped up to say so. Likewise the PDF export. To find an open-source replacement ought to be easy. But I haven't found one. Writing one from scratch would be another major task. There is the option of using a virtual printer application instead of the dedicated export, but they are all focused on standard paper sizes and can't produce the large single page PDFs which Templot's dedicated PDF export can create for wide-format long-roll printing. The alternative approach to both these issues would be a half-way house in which OpenTemplot makes use of a pre-compiled Windows helper executable. On the other hand, if you change the B-12 to a generic or curviform V-crossing, you hit a different problem -- there is no possible irregular half-diamond which can fit for the the 3rd V-crossing, hence the exception. For such a tandem it would be necessary to use a gaunt turnout instead for the 3rd crossing (as used in the double-sided tandems). Thanks for reporting this. I will put additional checks on the starting size in the next update, and do some more testing. If it seems that the no-fit exception will occur for reasonable turnout sizes, I will add a fresh block of code to switch to a gaunt turnout for the 3rd V-crossing. John posted: 26 Jan 2018 17:08 from: Martin Wynne Hi John, For that you need the swell mouse action. See: http://templot.com/companion/swell_function_ctrl_f10.php Looking at your plan it is probably not a single radius. Instead of using swell you could start with the turnout, make branch track from it, curve the branch track to the line, and then make transition to the existing straight track. For an example of this process, see: http://templot.com/companion/link_existing.php That keeps everything aligned, whereas swell takes the ends of the template out of angular alignment with adjacent templates. Swell is normally used on an isolated template which is not aligned with any others. cheers, Martin. posted: 26 Jan 2018 17 ...
