The new F9 function is needed mainly for irregular half-diamond templates, but can also be used on turnouts. n.b. Looking at your print, it appears to be a satisfactory double-slip: 2_270757_030000000.png As with all 00 gauge slips, there is a conflict between the slip roads and the K-crossing check rails. But... where you have two diamonds with different crossing angles like that, you're going to have a sharp change of angle in one of the roads at the K-crossing, aren't you? Brian, the two K-crossings should always be the same angle, otherwise you will get a sideways jolt in the running. However, to be strictly mathematically correct for the irregular diamonds there should be a very slight difference between the two angles. Which means that wherever you set the limit there is a rare chance that the two K-crossings will fall each side of the limit. See for example this result of make diamond-crossing: 2_231537_170000000.png The half-diamond on the right ...

However, I recently heard that a Mr. Norman Solomon wasn't so keen on Steel Rail, preferring Nickel Silver instead. Apparently this is because he has found past problems with soldered joints eventually failing. Bearing in mind that I am contemplating Ply& rivet construction (dinosaur I know) which does have several soldered joints here and there, I was wondering what experiences others have found with regard to long term reliability of soldered joints with steel rail? Fortunately the layout will be located in (what was) a bedroom, so corrosion etc. won't be too much of an issue I hope. Many thanks. What actually appears on the pad as a result (and gets printed) is determined by the generator settings currently in force (for the control template), or which were in force when a background template was last copied to the pad or rebuilt. I can add an option on the print pages dialog to enter a title or reference string to be used on the print instead of, or as as suffix to, the current box title. This should make it easier to identify the pages later, and if you remember to use that string in the filename when saving, to find that file again. But the simplest solution is to do as I do -- as a page comes off the printer, if it is deemed to be ok for use, I write some notes on it about where it fits in the scheme of things and any special settings used.
