Given that the background image is just an OS map, it is interesting to see how the geometry works out. 1129_081623_560000000.png I would really like to see a photo of this layout as it would be interesting to know just how some bits were built- but one has not yet surfaced. I would be very interested to hear people's views on the geometry and opinions on how it might have been built. Only twenty two templates so far- just a few partial templates needed to finish it off... Just in case anyone else fancies the challenge, I include the box and the shape files. ... may be of some use if you have a Three throw turnout to deal with. As the blades overlap, it is important that the two point motors throw sequentially to avoid stressing the drive mechanisms. I have used Fulgurex point motors modified with 10 way connectors and ribbon cable jumpers to allow easy disconnection if required. A major consideration with an exhibition layout. I always use small brass or N/S strips to secure the different bits of rail which comprise the crossings. These can then be secured to the (plywood) sleepers using Exopy. It has the advantage that the rails are electrically bonded in the process and makes very strong trackwork. My problem is that anything involving Store and Background is not working as I expect- for example, if I press "Insert", then Wipe another Template to the Control, the previous control template disappears from the background. Similarly, if I use any of the "Make" commands, the new template appears, but the previous control vanishes from the background. These "disappeared" templates (about 20 of them by now) all appear in the Box, but I can do nothing to make them appear on the Background. I must have done something to make this happen- it was working fine last time I used it- but how reverse it? I would have expected them to cover 5 sleepers rather than just three. Also, it looks like you have taken both the point and the splice rails to the point of the vee, whereas on the prototype, the blunt nose was formed entirely in the point rail as per this illustration from Martin... gallery/2 ...
