If you copy, you can paste it into your usual graphics editor program and then save the file for use in a picture shape. If you extract it, you can save the file directly from Nitro Reader, preferably in PNG format (please not the default JPG format). For TDV you can use an extracted PNG file directly as a picture shape. For Templot version 091c you need to open the file or paste the image into your graphics editor program, and then save in BMP format for the picture shape. You know the scale of the map, so with a bit of trial and error in the picture shape dialog you should be able to find the scanned dpi to create the picture shape at the correct scaled size. It is probably either 300dpi or 600dpi. regards ...

For still images we sensibly have 2 formats -- JPG for real world images, and PNG for computer line graphics. Not that you would know it, judging by the number of folks who use JPG for line graphics, even on technical sites where you would think they would know better. But for video there is only the one HTML5 format, which is utterly useless for line graphics, with fuzzy images and file sizes 10 times larger than the same thing in Flash. Folks keep telling me HTML5 video is the way forward, but I have spent hours trying every setting in the book to get it to look as crisp as Flash, without success, and still with massive file sizes. ...

This doesn't actually print the screen, it simply copies it onto the Windows clipboard. Now start your image editing program such as PaintShopPro, or Windows Paint. Click the Edit> Paste menu item. The screen view from Templot will appear as an image. Now you can save your work as a single JPG or PNG image file. Use JPG format if the background scan covers a significant part of the screen area. ... of detail in the image, not the size of the image in pixels. Likewise with GIF and PNG format for static images. An image of a patch of single colour 10,000 x 6,000 pixels would occupy only a few bytes in a file. The way to keep file sizes small is to remove everything from the screen which is not needed in the video. Closing the info and zoom dialogs, and working without timbering, will make a much smaller video file size -- provided you go nowhere near JPG and MPG formats, which should never be used for program screenshots and look awful when so used. I keep saying this, but the vast majority of Templot screenshots posted on forums such as RMweb are still in JPG format and look pretty dreadful as a result. 8-bit indexed PNG (256-colour) is far and away the best option. In automatic mode there is no indication to the user of the dpi being used. The leisure mode is fixed at 300dpi.
