... but now it is tea time and I need the machine for something else. I select a Menu Item called "Save Project", A SaveFile dialogue opens and I name my project Town Central V1_0. Templot creates a .box, .bgs and a prefs file using names of its choosing (they are invisible to me). After tea, I open up Templot, and it asks me if I want the previous position, When I click "yes", it loads my PROJECT file, including the prefs box, bgs previously created, and restores everything (name labels, zoom, screen position, printer settings, group selection names etc etc as they were before. I now do a bit more, and, when I click "print" all my previous print, generator and pad settings are already selected, meaning that I do not have to make any new selections (AND it will remember that I do not need to calibrate my printer OR it will have automatically loaded the calibration file I used previously!!). Your screenshots seem to be capturing the screen canvas instead of the trackpad canvas. It seems that you have a nice large screen, so you can solve the problem by dragging the storage box and file viewer windows over to the right. How did you get that nice picture in the background? Too many questions for the first time user opening Templot for the first time. I think you have to start right at the beginning- Allan Ferguson has done a guide; I would point the beginner prominently at that- perhaps make a video of that guide? I have previously suggested an opening splash screen on first opening Templot perhaps the splash screen could provide links to Allan's guide (and an accompanying video?)? The only other thing I can think of is to try a re-load of the latest TDV program and see if that clears things up, however, I will hold fire on this just in case you need further tests or information, since the rest of Templot seems to work fine and I can keep going on other sections of my system. One further thing I need to say is, that I am almost sure that this issue did work previously since I have used the dummy vehicle facility a lot lately, because I have been checking clearances as I have progressed with the layout before finalising the templates. However, like most people I just keep plodding on without paying too much attention to things I do, one might say, automatically, so I cannot be absolutely sure if I have checked any transitions before using the dummy vehicle facility. On an unrelated note but relating to the design of my railway, I have been looking through the Forum and noticed that for EM gauge, the recommendation seems to be for 36" minimum radius for the track. My available room is 11'6" by 6'5" so a 36" curve is problematic. I have previously built finescale OO using K&L /C &L components and their flexible track but although it is an improvement on typical RTR track, the sleepers are still too long (relative to the gauge) to my eye and I like the idea of EM as being a suitable compromise as I feel that it could theoretically be a regauged version of OO with improved flangeways and appearance. I appreciate that this is quite a simplistic view but I was hoping for the dockyard branch I would be able to get track nearer to ...

Timbering style is now square-on with ends-in-line. (Previously it was equalized incremental with centralized ends.) 2. Plain track sleeper length is now 8ft-6in. (Previously it was 9ft.) (For 00 and TT-3 it remains on 8ft.) 3. Plain track rail length is now 60ft/ 25 sleepers. (Previously it was 45ft/ 19 sleepers.) These defaults had remained unchanged for 30 years, they go right back to the first ever versions of Templot. We needed to move forward with the general modelling trends in the hobby. Of course these settings are easily changed. But many folks do use the defaults as-supplied, so it's important that they are sensible and appropriate for the current mainstream hobby. regards, Martin. I ended up with having to 'inch' the background shape input to a scale of 643.288 to get a known length on the actual ground to the correct S7 model length on the background image. When I re-visited the plan recently. I found I could now I could only get the nearest approximation to this scale factor i.e. 643.29. It was surprising that even that 0.002 difference made it such that previously templated model tracks did not quite line up, with the sectional parts of the background track plan whern modifications were needed. I think it would be ideal if you could reinstate the three or four decimal place adjustment as you previously had, this would give much better precision. All the best. ... posted: 28 May 2011 17:20 from: Alan McMillan Hi Martin I've noticed a difference in the way files are seemingly dealt with in the TDV. I always store my BOX files in a created folder on my external hard drive. In 091c after I had done this and saved my first file, afterwards, each time I "saved all templates as...", Templot would remember the location and the save dialogue box opened at that location ..even if it was a new Templot session where nothing had been previously saved. In the TDV it always defaults to the BOX-FILES location within the Templot installation folder on my C drive. Is this a deliberate change? I've also noticed that when using the UNDO function, it always seems to take two clicks to undo anything, the first one never seems to work. A bug or is it intentional? Except in the case of child windows, where the wheel events now go always to the parent window, and there doesn't seem to be any way for a child window to receive wheel events. What does this mean in Templot? Generally it means that you can zoom the trackpad on the mouse wheel in situations where previously you could not. For example after using the make transition function you will see this dialog: 2_181744_220000000.png Previously, because this dialog shows modal*, it was necessary to use the zoom and pan buttons on this dialog if needed to see the transition curve. We only supply one type of three bolt chair and one slide chair and a plastic sprue contains nine chairs and one slide chair which keeps most members happy. I don't think we could consider funding a larger range of chairs since there is a limit to what we should do with society funds, and with the minimum order quantites involved, some chair orders might be twenty to thirty years supply. Previously the society had whitemetal chairs cast for us to match Code 95 rail which used to be available from Jones Bros. in Chiswick. We bought up the remaining supply of that rail when Jones stopped trading and it ran out about ten years ago.
