... topic: 2498 Printing Large Templot Plans posted: 1 Aug 2014 15:45 from: Les Waters Apologies if this has already been answered previously. I am drawing a large prototypical plan using Templot. The final size could well be 12 metres X 2 metres and I would like to have it printed on one roll of paper. A local printer has said they can print the length but not the whole width. Has anyone on this forum attempted this type of thing? Regards Les posted: 1 Aug 2014 19:49 from: Ian Allen Hi Les, Yes, I've had large format prints made up. I'm not sure about the 2m width though. I can include a player for FBR videos in the Templot installation, so that users can view the videos directly from Templot and do not have to download them via their browser. On the prototype Ministry of Transport rules required that for passenger carrying lines, all curves with a radius of 10 chains or less must have a check rail fitted to the inside rail of the curve. In some cases curves of a greater radius than 10 chains are provided with check rails often where experience has show that rapid ware of the outer rail occurred previously. Gauge widening is as follows: Curves between 10 and 7 chains radius+ 1/4 ", Curves between 7 and 5 1/2 chains radius+ 1/2 ", Curves under 5 1/2 chains+ 3/4". The nominal flangeway clearance of 1 3/4" must be increased by the same amount as the gauge is widened to maintain the dimension of 4' 6 3/4" between the bearing surface of the check rail and the running face of the high rail ...

Trevor posted: 13 Nov 2014 20:16 from: DerekStuart Hi Trevor, the ground there is very stable on 100 years (at the time of the photo) compacted cinder/ash ballast that was level with the sleepers. The stone wall that you can just see is the remains of the engine stable foreman's office (not the mess area as I previously stated) which was demolished by the Luftwaffe in 1940. So the ground is pretty stable and there's nothing to come down on the track. As for previous comments about protecting track from trolleys, this was indeed the pedestrian route for drivers signing on and off. It is POSSIBLE that trolleys would have been going down the ramp too, but I can't think why. There was no barrow crossing (it is a terminus so not needed) and there is only the engine stable, which would have had its supplies come ...

In particular, I have done away with the slip connection between the goods yard shunting neck and the neck giving access to what I have previously referred to as the 'horse landing'. This has now been replaced with a simple diamond and two turnouts, which opens up the curve here to a scale 6.5 chains. Unless I've missed the means for doing so there's no way of posting a boxfile with a pm, so Dave has agreed that I may post the updated version here for his benefit, and in the hope that if there are shortcomings in my work some kind person can point them out and perhaps even correct them. ... topic: 2582 Screen scaling in 211b program update posted: 25 Nov 2014 02:22 from: Martin Wynne The majority of Templot users can ignore this. As mentioned previously I shall soon be uploading a new program update, which for some users will have a significant change to the screen scaling method. Templot will become what Microsoft calls "dpi-aware". This means that on modern high-definition screens, Templot will now do its own screen scaling to make the text and controls large enough to be seen comfortably. In all previous versions up until now, like most other software Templot has relied on Windows to zoom everything larger on high-definition screens. This is called "dpi-virtualization". It works quite well for text and controls, but makes a pig's ear of line graphics such as Templot's trackpad drawings. Which is why I am making this change. If you have been using one of these dpi-virtualized screens (i.e. more than 96 dpi in Windows Vista, or more than 120 dpi in Windows ...

Previously to do this it was necessary to run the peg along the rail rather than the centre-line to the required position. Now you can start from say CTRL-6 peg position and run it directly down the centre-line (CTRL-F8 mouse action).
