... . I am not saying that I will not be able to learn Templot without a manual, only that for me it will be more difficult. To those of you who have mastered it already, using what is available, I say well done Just be aware that not all people's minds work the same and I, whether from previous training or inherently, need to take each step and fully understand what and why I am doing it. Its the way I am I find videos hard to use for reasons I have given previously and won't go into here, simply put I create my own step by step instructions from the video. I do find videos essential when a complex move is being demonstrated. @Alan McMillan You are quit correct I totally misunderstood what you said for which I apologise. Referring to one of your earlier statements "Learn by doing rather than reading; you'll learn more and you'll learn it faster than if you sit down with the manual. Anyway, I just reloaded a previously saved shape file that contained one bitmap, one rectangle and one line, and got the following: 105_301735_260000000.png That description isn't anything I would enter, and the timestamp is about 15 minutes earlier than the file timestamp. Look at the coordinates- that line is going nowhere! Any ideas what might have happened? I can't think of anything I was doing differently, and the file was saved by overwriting the previous file (I usually do this for shape files). ... Getting a crossing to go where I want it... posted: 27 Jan 2010 23:40 from: Nick R I am trying to get the basic crossing half diamonds in place so that I can start creating a double slip. The crossing was done by 'Tools/make ladder crossover' on a turnout in one side of a curved section of double track. All would be well, except that I don't want the crossing line to curve back towards the double track but, rather to diverge from it. I've previously made a single slip in straight track, but am completely flummoxed by trying to do this to fit into an existing plan and space. The attached box file contains the main bits extracted from a larger plan. The crossing (half diamonds 3 and 6) should diverge from the curved lines to meet up with line 1 in the upper right. The main running lines can't be moved (too much) as they already exist. Template 1 could be moved a bit, but i'd prefer to keep most of it very ...

Tried the 160gsm on the PX710W Printer and amazingly, it worked fine. I have discovered that by adding 1 sheet at a time in a staggered configuation, in a landscape orgination, it was possible to achive good rresults. ... topic: 1075 Fooling around with different methods of track construction posted: 11 Mar 2010 17:44 from: polybear (Apologies if anyone has seen this on RMWeb also) Hi, I'm currently experimenting with different methods of trackmaking, to see what I like best and to learn the techniques. I've previously made a turnout using plastic components, but it wasn't too successful first time round (my fault). I've also been experimenting with Masokits etched brass chairs and pcb sleepers (pretty reasonable, very strong, looks reasonable but does take time). I'm now onto pcb trackwork (very strong, fast, but attaching chairs is a pain because they are too high due to the rail sitting directly on the sleeper). Now I've just tried ply and rivet, which I do like; however again there are problems attaching chairs because the size of the rivet head means the chair half is held away from the rail, even though I'm using the smaller copper rivets with 2mm diameter head. Any suggestions with regard to fitting half chairs to pcb ...

... I am actually still designing. I am not trying to exactly match the Peco Turnouts with Templot Turnouts but start with a rubbing in each case and take it from there. The continuous run was built before I got Templot but the rest of my design has been discarded in view of the greater opportunities now open to me through Templot. However in two locations a double junction is still the best option to allow me to transition to and from the other parts of my future design. Both are on straight stretches and, having previously been constructed using standard Peco parts, do NOT involve "irregular diamond crossings" if that is still the accepted term. My question is could someone out there point me in the direction of anything which covers the construction of Double Junctions? I have searched Templot but have not found anything describing the construction of a Double Junction. I intend to make these "freestyle" ,ie without rubbings, as I have never been happy with what I was forced to accept using Peco. @Martin If you intend to provide an ...

I am replacing all of the Peco Turnouts and Crossings I had previously laid. I do this by taking a rubbing and using it as the starting point, hence the value of the video which covers everything I need to draw my new set ups. The resulting template usually finishes up different in at least some aspects as I am willing to re-lay the tracks already in place to achieve better results both in appearance and function. I have the disadvantage of having used AutoCad and similar packages beforehand, even though it was a long time ago. Now I'm trying to get to grips with transitions. I've managed to create a transition curve from a straight to a circular curve, although the "start" and "finish" were at the opposite ends to where I expected them. Now I want to create a transition curve at the other end of the circular curve back to a straight. I've read through the tutorials and watched the videos, but I can't find anything on this. I've placed a straight alongside the end of the curve and have tried to link them with a transition but Templot says it can't but won't say why. ...

... I have been thinking about a possible orientation problem of the image in both 'sketchboard' and 'workpad', the inspection pits my be in the wrong place in a particular case (other objects may be in the way), so will 'split off' these two items and produce two images (1 – the turntable and main pit, 2 – the two inspection pits, invisible linked and diametrically opposed at scale size) that can be joined (or not) in whatever positions are required. This is thanks to Howard's suggestion previously posted. I eliminated the idea of splitting out the actual turntable as this may prove to have more difficult line-up problems. One thing I have been meaning to ask is, can you place, say, parts of images over another so that the upper image part masks out that bit of the lower image (considering transparency). This is all to do with the way things might have to be drawn to get flexibility to the images (Howard's suggestion again). I have received a couple of very welcome ...
