It's fairly easy to create a 3D model of the timbers in CAD from any Templot template. It's also fairly simple to drag models of the chairs into the correct positions and orientation and combine them to produce an STL file to drive a printer. What is not so easy is producing 3D models for chairs that a) actually work, and b) don't look too horrible! I think I have reached a point where I'm limited by the printing technology itself. The results are actually a lot better than I thought they might be when I started out. Anyway, I've been making some wild guesses about chair dimensions, and I have not had a lot of luck finding anything on the Web. Any information would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I can think is that this is related in some way to a generator setting you have for trackbed edges. Unfortunately I can't identify from your pic which actual template that is. To make matters worse I now cannot run 0.91b Templot (I get as far as the ready, steady click, I click and then the window vanishes and nothing happens) despite uninstalling it and reloading it. I have followed all the suggestions in an earlier thread about "Templot Launch Failure" problettes with 0.91b but without success. Hi Edward, er... that's weird! I think the printing at switch-on must be a problem in the Windows printer spooler. From the Windows taskbar go to Start> Control Panel> Printers and Faxes. Open the printer which you are using. In the dialog which apears click the Printer> Cancel All Documents menu item. Then restart Windows. This may also explain the problem launching Templot. During startup Templot builds a list of all available printers. If one is in use, or there is a problem with it, Templot may not be able to start. I got fed up with sticking bits of A4 paper together for even quite small templates. I've now bought myself an HP Officejet 7110 from ebuyer for not much over £100, it's relatively small for an A3 printer and has a wireless connection which for me is important so I can tuck it under a chair when not in use, with no cabling to unplug. Reviews suggest it's not that good for photo printing, but frankly if you want an A3 photo printed, it's cheaper to go to a print shop! The next problem was paper. A3 copy paper is abundant, A3+ photo paper is abundant, but A3+ decent quality plain paper isn't! Eventually I found a company called FirstForPaper who list Swift paper, and the 120gsm is available as a special size of 13" x 19" (A3+ ...

If using Windows 95, 98 or ME this is unlikely to be successful if you are printing finished templates. In most cases the degree of magnification required is too great. This is a Windows restriction, not Templot. It might work at lower magnifications, for example when printing an entire track plan using "fit single page". It might also work if you change the printer to a lower print quality/resolution.) I noticed the "colour printing" toggle on the print menu and decided to give it a try. I set my printer to our "Tektronix Phaser 850DP" printer, then selected "colour printing". Templot reported, "Your current printer is not a colour printer, or has not been set for colour printing." Entering printer setup from there allowed me to confirm that the correct printer was indeed selected, and that it was indeed enabled for colour. Not quite sure how to remedy that... and I'm not inclined to spend much time figuring it out. B/W is quite adequate. 'Tiling' of templates is taken care of automatically by Templot. A long template will be printed on two or more A4 sheets which will butt up perfectly to each other once the small margin is removed. I am fairly condident that my Printer is Calibrated ok, yet I am having fairly big discrepancies over 3 A4 sheets joined together in Landscape origination. During printer configuration the outer box of the printout measures 180mm x 240mm, yet when the proof sheet is printed out the horizontal bar measures 150mm, but the vertical bar only measures 249.5mm, instead of the 250mm expected. The Roller Factor is 100% and the Head Factor is 100%. On printout of a few sheets of A4 paper to join together, the grid spacings seem really good at 50mm(they had been 52mm), yet on a staggered A4 paper layout, when jointing together, the placing of an A4 sheet centred on the joint of 2 A4 sheets below, show the sheet out of alignment by 1mm at either end of the sheet. ... : Templot User I am spending much to much time getting started. Menus just do not comply with normal Windows practice. I will note them as I go but you are making me work very hard just to get started. I purchased the program and downloaded the available version 0.74.be. Then downloaded and installed 0.91.co. The Help menu says I still have the old version. what changed? All the menus still behave as before and my growing list of complaints were not fixed. Here are some complaints: 1. Calibrating the printer: The menu for entering data in the field does not allow me to back up. If there is an error, I have to start over. No indication that I have to hit Enter to go to the next field. The entire calibration procedure is cumbersome. All of this should be done from one menu and not jumping through so many. I have spent 20 minutes getting this to work before finding out that someone has somehow altered my printer settings even though the LCD on the printer says everything was letter size ...

This allows the print to be done on a single sheet if it's less than 18" wide and minimises the number of sheets needed. I hope this is useful to anyone with access to such a printer. My HP Printer is connected to an 802.1 (Ethernet) network via an HP JetDirect en3700 USB Network adapter. I made sure that I could print to this from my PC prior to starting this process. Albeit that using the software "clicked" about 2330 and I was going great guns until I got dragged off about 0230 in the morning by my grumpy better half! However I cannot print more than 2 pages at best regardless of what I do. I have reduced the resolution on the printer which just means I now get to the stop point faster and have tried printing straight to printer rather than spooling. It just sits there with the software not responding until I close it out which usually triggers the end "feed" from the printer and then nothing. I have read everything I can find in the archives but to no avail so grateful for any steers. The rig is a dual core Intel with 2GB RAM and top range graphics card running Vista ultimate and SP1.
