The file consists of two "blocks", a 2D rectangle block and a 2D triangle block. Hi Andy, I'm not clear what you want me to do with this file? It won't display in my old copy of TurboCAD, nor import into Templot. However, I managed to get it into Templot by: 1. opening it in ProgeCAD Smart 2. saving in DXF R14 format 3. opening that in TurboCAD 4. saving in DXF R12 format with exploded blocks 5. importing into Templot: 2_070347_090000000.png What now? ... design.... I see Mr Minnis (active member of the Brighton circle) made an appearance on "Unbuilt Britain" on the TV the other evening. best wishes Richard posted: 28 Aug 2013 16:01 from: JFS He did indeed- and also when Network rail announced the listing of 26 boxes! AND on our local news some months ago when a former filing station on the A1 was listed! Quite a popular chap. Do you have a CAD programme that does basic 3D? (the freebie ProgeCAD will do) You can export your Templot as a 3D DXF and view it from all angles- very helpful when comparing to photos. It saves a lot of this tweaking stuff (which can be a bit stressful...)! Cheers, Howard. But if you are looking for a more conventional CAD for use with Templot's DXF exports, a very powerful 2D/3D CAD package which is entirely free* is: ProgeCAD 2008 SMART (Proge is in Italy) It's based on the IntelliCad engine and uses AutoCad DWG/DXF as its native file format, so loading DXF exports from Templot is simple. Bearing in mind the cost of other full-featured CAD packages, this entirely free version is excellent and much more powerful than the other free and low-cost CAD programs available. There are some nag screens about upgrading to the Professional version when you first select several functions, but they all have "don't show this again" buttons -- so you are soon rid of them. *Free for personal/ non-commercial use only. ... topic: 939 DXF/ Render Bug posted: 21 Sep 2009 17:28 from: JFS Martin, Not sure if this is a little glitch or a setting error I have made or just a "feature" of my 3D rendering software (ProgeCAD), but in the attached image, you can see that none of the K Crossing checkrails have rendered- they appear to have lost their top faces. Also, I notice that the slip road switches on the double slip have failed to materialise. Not at all a big issue even if it is a bug, but thought I would ask anayway. ... need one that spans 4 tracks (The bay headshunt, up and down mains and coal yard headshunt). The Midland would have used a long lattice gantry for this but there was only one of those at the west end. In this area it was all wooden poles connected by back to back L girders or channels. What I might do is see if I can move the headshunts outwards very slightly to give enough clarance to put a standard wooden pole portal in. On another note entirely can I thank Martin for the ProgeCAD suggestion that you made on RMWeb. I have struggled to get my head round CAD for years but have now managed to make a start thanks to a series of tutorials on You Tube. I have now managed to get some inital artwork for OLE parts produced. It needs some tweaking but I am getting there. The attached pdf shows my efforts to date with the warren trusses for the awnings and some OLE parts.
