... topic: 3214 Changes in 218d posted: 9 Feb 2018 17:58 from: Martin Wynne Here's a list of the changes in 218d: 1. I have made some changes to improve screen performance when zooming in and panning on a large track plan. See: topic 3207 How much difference it makes will vary with different systems and screen sizes. You may see no difference, or a big difference. On smaller track plans you probably won't see much difference. 2. There is a new option to restrict the number of background templates being shown on the screen when zooming out. Again this may or may not make a significant difference to the screen response. See the above topic link for more details. 3. I have re-written the code for the make return curve function. I was never entirely happy with its working, and it was often annoying that it wouldn't work on transition curves. It does now. At the same time I have adopted a non-standard way of working for that function. Instead of putting ...

It's important, to me at least, that the A-Z Index is easy to use and browsable as the main entry point to the content. So I have devised a new format for the online Companion: 2_010754_230000000.png The two columns on the left provide the Contents List and A-Z Index, and on smaller screens this is all you will see. Clicking items on either of those opens the relevant information page in a separate browser tab. This has pros and cons, but the big advantage is that on mobile devices the full screen area is available for screenshots and diagrams. You can also choose to have several pages open at the same time in different tabs if you wish. On larger screens, some or all of this Templot Club web site will fill the remainder of the screen on the right, so that all Templot information ...

Should I be planning to spend most of my spare time for the next 10 years developing Templot, if at the end of that time no-one has the means to run it? Where do you think you will be running Templot in 10 years time? Will it be necessary to chase the family off the big media screen in the front room -- because despite a house full of gadgetry there is nowhere else to run it? I have various versions of Adobe Flashplayer on different machines due to newer versions not being compatible with older PC's This is my first serious attempt at using the new FBR format, so please treat this as a first draft version. I would welcome comments and feedback. I found this to be the best option for playing the tutorial. The first minor problem I have noticed in the TDV is the when you go to put your background track plan on the workpad, the data entry window is hidden or, in some cases depending where you are on the screen, half hidden by the initial selection screen. To get access to the data entry, you have to move it sideways from behind the other window before you can enter any data. When you finally enter the data and click the "Enter" button, it comes back with a warning screen, "Bitmap image is not valid" as shown below. The screenshot shown immediately below, covers the data entry screen window. Also this screen 'hogs' your monitor, because if you leave Templot screen up and active, if you then call up and cover Templot with another application, the screen below stays irritatingly in the ...

It wasn't very successful then, but browser tech and broadband seems to have improved a bit since, so I have had another go. So far it seems to be working quite well, at least here. If you go to this link right now: http://templot.com/companion/live_screen.php you should be able to see Templot running. Without the large background file loaded, Templot works fine right up to, and including the largest zoom factors, it is only when I have the large file version of background on the workpad does the problem occur. Please note, if I use smaller background files, these do not seem to give rise to the problem, which suggests that there may be a file size limitation for background images which allows zooming very close in. When the crash occurs, the screen goes totally black for several seconds, then a blue screen appears with a message on, this blue screen lasts for a few seconds only (not really enough time to read it all), then the system goes into reset/restart mode and fires up the O S again thus having to start from scratch. Templot has a function to draw the track centre-lines only, at any width, irrespective of the gauge of the rails (and in the marker colours), which may help you make a panel. Can you post a screenshot of what you mean by jagged track edges? That may just be your screen resolution, it would print smooth. Traditionally a steam-era railway would be controlled from a signal box diagram and a row of levers. Templot and sketchboard can produce some very nice-looking signal box diagrams. ... topic: 2561 Admin: Is anyone using 192dpi screen resolution (200% scaling)? posted: 27 Oct 2014 19:46 from: Martin Wynne I'm intending to upload a new Templot version shortly. This will mean a significant change for Templot in that for the first time I am setting the program to "DPI-aware" in Windows. This means that on high-resolution screens Windows will no longer perform virtualization scaling from 96dpi, and Templot will have to do its own scaling instead. The Windows virtualization works quite well for dialogs and controls, but not for line graphics such as the template drawings on the trackpad in Templot. It has been several weeks work to go all through Templot and scale everything for 120dpi and 144dpi but I believe I am now there. However I have not yet done 192dpi, so I need to know if anyone is using such a high dpi setting -- for example on high-end laptops such as the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro which has a native screen size of 3200 x 1800, see ...
