... posted: 22 Jul 2009 10:58 from: Martin Wynne Some pictures posted on RMweb this morning showing what the Manchester Model Railway Society have been doing with Templot. See: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p =732138#p732138 When I see pictures like this I'm always reminded of the very first time I got a usable template off the printer when I was developing Templot. I never for a minute dreamed what other folks would go on and do with it. Well done to all involved on Slattocks Junction. file.php?id=91325 Martin. posted: 22 Jul 2009 11:08 from: Brian Lewis It looks quite interesting Martin. Any chance you could persuade them to publish the track plan for all to see please? ... topic: 877 Slattocks Junctions posted: 23 Jun 2009 12:16 from: Andy G I had intended to post this once the layout design was entirely complete, however, Martin has offered to draw the irregular single slip for me and needs the box file. I'll start with the complete box file and then post the partial one that Martin is after. You can read the full explanation of the redesign here Rebirth of Slattocks Junctions on RMWeb. The slip needs to allow movements from the up main (lower track) to the down main. The tandem is in the goods yard and the turnout with no timbers is part of the double junction. ... message (unless it's one of your own messages). Thanks for your report. Everything seems to be working as intended, apart from a slight "funny" with the emailed daily digest, which I'm now looking into. Did anyone else receive the daily digest today (i.e. the one direct from this site, not via Yahoo) with the wrong subject line? regards, Martin. posted: 27 May 2009 14:31 from: Andy G Martin, Thanks for this facility. I've uploaded the four variations of Slattocks Junction and whilst I can see those in the latest postings I cannot see anybody elses backups. ... topic: 878 Printing for a layout diagram posted: 24 Jun 2009 13:59 from: Martin Wynne Andy G wrote (on RMweb): It does seem to be a bit of an issue to get a decent looking overall trackplan out of Templot, I know Martin is working on a sketching add on, but I've had quite a few issues trying to get a trackplan of Slattocks that shows up well on a screen or an A4 sheet. Full size it is absolutely brilliant. Hi Andy, You can get reasonable results by switching the rails off for printing, and setting a thick track centre-line. Say 30mm wide for 4mm scale. Then print the pad to fit a single page. The red trim margins can be suppressed by simply changing their colour to white. The track centre-line prints in the same colour as the rail edges, so you can change that to whatever you want. I have made a bit of Jing video showing these changes being made (it may take a short while to load): ...

... topic: 782 Toggling Background Shapes posted: 7 Apr 2009 10:35 from: Andy G Martin, I am currently working on drawing the trackwork for the relaying of Slattocks Junction. I have drawn the baseboards and also have a couple of very large scans of the existing trackwork. I've managed to get by with setting the scans to transparent on occasion so that I can see the baseboards through them but it would be very useful if there was an option to turn individual shapes off. For example I may want to display the baseboards but not the scans of the existing track. I'm not particularly bothered by the ability to group shapes but being able to toggle display of a shape on and off would be great. ... posted: 8 May 2009 12:40 from: Len Cattley That's worked. Must have been really heavy traffic on the internet last night as it took at least 20 min for the message to arrive& I've got cable. Len posted: 8 May 2009 18:09 from: Andy G Len, I've managed to download and open the files. Firstly timbering practice varies with company, though as the name Tebay is mentioned I presume that this will be LMS. Hopefully on Monday night we'll be having the new turnouts on Slattocks Junction (Manchester- Rochdale) checked over by a track expert so I should be able to post images of what they are supposed to look like later next week. Meanwhile, is this your first attempt at P4? If so I'd be wary of starting with double slips, there is a lot of bits to get in a small space and cut accurately. On the lower plan you could replace the slip with two ordinary turnouts toe to toe. On the lower diagram I'm not sure about the necessity for either of ...

... not exactly 90 degrees. regards, Martin. posted: 7 Apr 2009 16:09 from: Andy G Hi Martin, I'll give that a try. To be honest the example I gave was simplified to avoid confusion, we are using transitions though at one end of the layout the track does bend through 90 degrees over a distance of about five feet- compromise of building a roundy round in a limited space, and this is the end Jim Summers keeps using a photo of! Photos of the layout are here, Slattocks Junction. All of the front track has to be replaced as it has proved impossible to paint the sleepers and whilst the goods yard was drawn on Templot the mainline predates the use of it. We are therefore taking the opportunity to redraw it and hopefully getter better alignments and flows. posted: 7 Apr 2009 17:23 from: Martin Wynne Andy G wrote: To be honest the example I gave was simplified to avoid confusion, we are using transitions Hi Andy, Ok, if you use transition curves you can ...

... easily fixed. 1- The turnout road on the bottom right turnout has a bit of a dogleg in it! 2- On the LMS main line, there are a number of overlapping templates which I've fixed (see attached) by deleting one template, splitting another to remove the exit track and adjusting the approach length on another. 3- This happens in a few other places, but now you know how to fix it! (eg templates 33/67& 48/49) 4- Your project title is Slattocks Junction! Hope this helps!
