... in the lab? HP: Oh no, I don't do any of that stuff. I'm a Theoretical Botanist. Incidentally, the pal rented an apartment in Boston. One day a guy showed up and offered him a lot of money to move out. He did, and that was the apartment they used in the movie Love Story. posted: 19 May 2018 02:36 from: Martin Wynne Hi Andy, Here are some pics of a layout with fully chaired track: http://templot.com/GNRI/adavoyle.htm It was built in the mid-1980s, before any plastic chairs were available. It is in 4mm scale to Irish 5ft-3in gauge (21mm gauge), so there was no flexi-track available (and still isn't) and all the track was handbuilt. There is also some flat-bottom track for the 3ft narrow-gauge section. The layout spent 20 years on the exhibition circuit in the UK, but is now in Ireland in the care of the South Dublin Model Railway Club. The track ...

As far as I know it is still in working order, and Tony Miles has visited the club a few times to help them keep it so. I think it has been exhibited by them at least once. David Sutton of this parish may know more. Tony's BRM articles about the layout are available online: http://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/userfiles/files/ ...

The photograph was taken 19 years later in 2003, and the track is still in fine condition now 27 years later (now in the care of the South Dublin Model Railway Club). More info: http://www.templot.com/GNRI/adavoyle.htm The track never gave us any problems, apart from the usual bumps and knocks after 20+ years on the exhibition circuit. It was never noticeably noisy, even at home -- although of course Tony Miles's sweet-running loco mechs contributed a lot to that. The track was all traditional rivetted ply in the visible areas -- no flexi-track in 21mm gauge, then or now. Tony made all the plain track, and a lot of the junction pointwork was built by Peter Taylor, including all the ...
