... topic: 1705 Shortcut Keys posted: 29 Nov 2011 23:27 from: Brian Nicholls Hi Martin, In the process of compiling a shortcut key help guide for the TDV, and hopefully the new issue Templot, which contains full detailed explanations of the result of the key action, I have discovered the following anomaly: In the< action> menu, there is the function to repeat last action which requires to use the Backspace key, however, when this key is pressed, the result is to bring up the F8 rotate around peg mini screen. Now this screen also appears, correctly, when the F8 key is pressed. Thought you might like to know. All the best, Brian Nicholls. posted: 30 Nov 2011 02:05 from: Martin Wynne Brian Nicholls wrote: In the< action> menu, there is the function to repeat last action which requires to use the Backspace key, however, when this key is pressed, the result is to bring up the F8 rotate around peg mini screen. ... sets one end of the ruler at the mouse position, and ALT+ RIGHT CLICK sets the other end? CTRL+ FULL STOP changes the mouse pointer to cross-hairs for accurate positioning first. There are no free shortcuts left, but for the mouse actions from the menu, the accelerator key sequence is ALT+ L,R ,1 or ALT+ L,R ,2. With the mouse actions in force, you can click the triangle symbol on the mouse action panel to quickly change ruler end, and BACKSPACE always re-starts the most recent mouse action. I'll see if I can find some direct shortcuts, but the above covers most requirements. regards, Martin. posted: 27 Mar 2009 17:17 from: Jim Guthrie Martin Wynne wrote: Jim Guthrie wrote: When doing a lot of measuring with the ruler, I find it a bit of a chore having to continually select a menu, then a sub menu to choose to move one or other of the ruler ends. ... topic: 1600 The hollow triangle symbol posted: 24 Aug 2011 20:38 from: Simon Dunkley Just a thought, and posted here following an email exchange with Martin, but since the backspace key can be used to access recent commands, in many instances it would be useful to use the empty triangle symbol to toggle between related commands, so that if F9 is selected for a half diamond, then clicking on the triangle will toggle to the F10 functionality, and vice-versa. If you have a transition curve, then clicking on the triangle when adjusting the radius (F6) toggles between the first and second radii, so you can see what I mean if it is not clear. In a similar vein, I would find it useful to be able to toggle between setting the start point of a transition curve, and setting the length of the transition. Martin thinks the basic idea has merit, so I wondered if it might be useful to open up the topic for further suggestions of paired (or triplicated, maybe?) ...

... boards at the enterance to the first fiddle tracks on both sides to ease the exit points of this "THINGY" (Not even sure what to call it) This is where the problem arises between me and Templot. I have been trying to establish the area to be built basically as a seperate base board and to then fit this item into it. Each time a try a variation some of the components become very distorted. Is there a way to design the entrance section as described please? Cheers Simon Handby Attachment: attach_19_Fiddle_yard_entry.doc_2 .pdf 395 posted: 6 Jun 2007 22:43 from: Alan Turner A suggeston. Does that make some of those turns a bit tight? There are however a couple of good ideas in your suggestion though. Its amazing how 2 heads and a slightly different perspective make all the difference. Cheers Simon posted: 7 Jun ...

... showing. This then means that the end of the slew is concentric with the inner double track. Since it is also the same radius, perfect alignment results. Adjust the transition zone length (SHIFT+ CTRL-F4) until the marks are as close as possible, then adjust the slew amount (CTRL-F7) until they are as close as possible. Alternate these mouse actions until they coincide and a perfect result is achieved. It's not necessary to see the track while making these adjustments. (You can press BACKSPACE to alternate mouse actions, instead of cancelling each one.) (By the way, this neatly illustrates why Templot doesn't use the Windows way of doing things. In a Windows-style application you would need to drag the transition markers, making it impossible to zoom in on the radial centres at the same time.) Here are the figures I ended up with: amount of slew=[ -190.58] length along transition section= 3138.51 (at the track centre-line) The resultant radius figures are then ...

I suppose it would be a pain if you used the menus to choose the mouse actions. I've just seen Martin's note about using the middle mouse button, but that option isn't open to me! ... Zooming the workpad also cancels any mouse action in force, because a change of zoom means the mouse action response setting must be changed.) But you don't have to close the background shapes. Click on the workpad title bar at the top of the screen. That will shift focus to the workpad and you can then zoom or do anything else. (Clicking the workpad area instead of the title bar sets a position on the pad for the background shapes functions.) Then to restart the previous shape mouse action, press BACKSPACE. When you complete the mouse action, the background shapes window will re-appear. If it doesn't, press CTRL+ S (Templot menu shortcut) or ALT+ F6 a few times (standard Windows shortcut to swap windows). regards, Martin. Thanks in anticipation.Kim posted: 14 Dec 2012 21:16 from: Martin Wynne Hi Kim, Sorry there are no shortcuts available for the mouse actions on the ruler tool. But pressing the BACKSPACE key lets you swap between the two mouse actions repeatedly, once you have started using them. However, there is a quick way to position the ruler: ALT+ LEFT-CLICK puts the 1st end of the ruler at the mouse location.* ALT+ RIGHT-CLICK puts the 2nd end of the ruler at the mouse location. That means to click the mouse buttons while holding down the ALT key. So you can simply move the mouse and then use the above shortcuts to set the ruler. You can change the mouse pointer to cross-hairs for precision work by pressing the CTRL+ FULL-STOP ( ...

... new feature, it has always been there. Similarly for several other mouse actions, clicking that symbol toggles two related mouse actions, e.g. in F6, toggle between 1st and 2nd transition radius, for a transition, toggle between the start and zone length adjustments. When not doing such pre-defined swaps, it toggles back to the most recent previous mouse action. So for example when adjusting check rails you could toggle to and fro between the length of the check rail and the length of the flared end. The BACKSPACE key does the same thing. I removed the separate F8 button so that I could find space to include an indication of join snapping in the caption on the F7 button. The toolbar can't be made any longer or it won't fit on 1024 screens. Be aware that F7 snapping is now on by default if you use that button, but off by default if you press the F7 key to start it. Hold down the SHIFT key to reverse that in each case. More info, see: topic 3066 regards, ...

When using the mouse actions to adjust the ruler, you don't have to keep going back into the menu. Just click the mouse action icon to toggle between the two ends: 2_241310_590000000.png If you lose the mouse action by needing to zoom, press BACKSPACE to get back to the last mouse action. You can drag-pan the trackpad while a mouse action is in force using the middle mouse button. There are several similar toggles between two related mouse actions on that icon. For example F6 on the 1st or 2nd radius in a transition, or moving the start position or length of the transition zone. cheers, Martin. posted: 24 Feb 2018 21:58 from: JFS Martin Wynne wrote: JFS wrote: Where on earth does it say Alt Right click ...
