... May 2020 12:47 from: Martin Wynne Hi Gordon, From memory your roundy-roundy layout is squarish, about 15ft/4500mm square? A panel 800mm x 400mm isn't the least bit squarish, so I'm wondering what you have in mind. Is the whole layout going on one panel? Or several panels? With 7mm dia LEDs, the closest track spacing to keep things looking clear is probably at 5mm centres. If your layout track spacing is 50mm, that means the scale of the mimic diagram is 1:10. So that would mean a diagram 450mm square. Which 800x400 isn't? Templot has a function to draw the track centre-lines only, at any width, irrespective of the gauge of the rails (and in the marker colours), which may help you make a panel. Can you post a screenshot of what you mean by jagged track edges? That may just be your screen resolution, it would print smooth. You're right that it's a challenging design, because you want to include as much as possible of your existing pointwork while hopefully creating a flowing "Templot" design for new handbuilt curved pointwork. Before you began handbuilding you sent me some scans of your existing 00 pointwork, which I matched for you in Templot. The straight turnouts were a good match to A-7, and the diamonds matched 1:7 too. The curved turnout was near a C-10, but not such a good match: gordon_scans.png gordon_scans_a7.png I tried using these for the CJF terminus plan, and managed to fit it within your 5400mm space, without losing any platform length. The goods yard access needed a changed design to keep a long enough head-shunt, but otherwise it's a straight conversion to 1:7 angle of CJF's original design. But it does look rather angular, and the sharp approach curves look very cramped. It would obviously be much more attractive and create a longer-look effect ...

This will be a pre-grouping NER layout in P4, so I have started trying to produce my own single junctions to various sizes between 1:6.25 and 1:8.75. I can produce the V-crossing I want and I can create the correct sizes of sleepers and shove them into position, but I am not sure what to do about the switch.
