... The general design and handling is a bit clunky, it's a big lump on your desk compared with some of the sleek designs I have seen. No-one is going to mistake this for an Apple product. I can't say how it compares with other scanners because I haven't used them, but if you want any more info just ask. I noticed the "colour printing" toggle on the print menu and decided to give it a try. I set my printer to our "Tektronix Phaser 850DP" printer, then selected "colour printing". Templot reported, "Your current printer is not a colour printer, or has not been set for colour printing." Entering printer setup from there allowed me to confirm that the correct printer was indeed selected, and that it was indeed enabled for colour. Not quite sure how to remedy that... and I'm not inclined to spend much time figuring it out. B/W is quite adequate. ... Geoff, Only background templates can be exported to DXF. Are you trying to export the control template? If so press the INSERT key to store it as a background template and then try again. If not, can you post the DXF file here as an attachment for me to test? ... that the one thing we are all short of is time. So often, by the time I have set everything as I want it, there is little time for real use. Surely it does not have to be like this? Templot becomes more powerful at every revision. But, I would gladly forgo any number of these for a 'Tools, Options, control panel that I could use to enter my requirements once and for all. I was thinking maybe bow the mainlines up slightly. The baseboard is 8 inches from the bottom of the board to the 2ft mark. The top platform has 3.4 inches (according to the magic ruler) of space. So 28 feet of space, while the space between the ends of the sleepers for the island is 1.3 inches or about 11 feet. Not sure what of that would be platform but does seem a bit narrow. I'm guessing I should 'steel' 1 inch out of the top giving 20ft there and give the island another inch giving it a maximum width of about 19 ft? Still probably prototypically narrow but doable? Second idea, make the top platform low relief with only half a station and say 1.5 inches maximum platform depth (so about 12-14ft) and increase the island to a maximum of about 3 inches? The foam came from 4D Models and was available in many thicknesses from 1mm, 2mm etc. 4D are closed at the moment so I'm not sure what is available, but it is lovely material to work with.
