The only alternative might be a genuine three way with the blades all together. ... and created a pdf output in diagram mode for use in coreldraw planning. For some reason, parts of my tandem turnout are always missing. i have tried it innumerable times. In fact they are a lot easier to build, being little more than two short turnouts toe-to-toe. The only downside being the need for two extra point motors, fitted very close together. Like timber shoving, it is a waste of effort adding slip switches and slip roads to a diamond-crossing until the track planning is finalised (except perhaps to check that the radius will be acceptable). I've previously made a turnout using plastic components, but it wasn't too successful first time round (my fault). I've also been experimenting with Masokits etched brass chairs and pcb sleepers (pretty reasonable, very strong, looks reasonable but does take time). I'm now onto pcb trackwork (very strong, fast, but attaching chairs is a pain because they are too high due to the rail sitting directly on the sleeper). Now I've just tried ply and rivet, which I do like; however again there are problems attaching chairs because the size of the rivet head means the chair half is held away from the rail, even though I'm using the smaller copper rivets with 2mm diameter head. Any suggestions with regard to fitting half chairs to pcb ...

I have no idea if I did this correctly but it turned out pretty much like I wanted it, that is to print full size and build my turnouts in place without the need to standard templates. A couple of the turnouts have slight curves and others are "inbetween" sizes (ie not #5, #6 etc)- BTW, I model US track hence the numbers. Attached to this message is an image of the plan in Templot. The 2% that I am not happy with is the two turnouts in the lower left corner at the end of the coke ovens. ...

I'm not convinced that the majority of users would connect it to 16.5mm track, and even then only for a few of the templates.
